Mookie D
Hello everyone! We have had a 9 week old cairn terrier, Mookie, for only about three days now. He’s very playful and a lot of fun, and extremely disinterested in treats. For now, were just rewarding good behavior with toys and praise, but he wants absolutely nothing to do with his “Blue Bits Soft Moist Training” and “Old Mother Hubbard Classic Puppy” treats. If anyone has recommendations on treats that their cairn pups love to assist with training, that would be great. Thanks in advance!
bradl
Welcome Mookie D! String cheese (or more accurately the low-fat mozzarella or cheddar imitations) diced into minuscule cubes. If you're training something that is tolerant of chewing time (like a reward for sit, etc) our guys love Charlee Bears. Cheese is more high-value to them. Nuclear-grade (but messy): liverwurst Anything small and interesting can work. At the suggestion of a friend I once used tiny dried sardines. Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions? rubysmom
We like the Pupford brand. All natural. Also for more difficult training: small bits of hot dog. That’s like a $100 bill for our dog.
