Chameleon
I am going to get a Cairn soon and just today I started thinking: would it be better to take them on longer walks or shorter walks coupled with more playing in the yard? Does it even matter?
bradl
Welcome! I lean toward shorter walks and playing, particularly for puppies. Puppies (if you're getting a puppy) tend to have two speeds: MAX and OFF. Shorter exercise periods reduce the chance of over stressing them. I read somewhere that for adult Cairns two miles a day is about ideal. They play energetically and self-exercise pretty well too, if given a lot of stimulation and opportunity. Kathryn
And with playing, you get the chance to introduce them to some good behavior and obedience behaviors!
