sanford
Walking Ruffy in Central Park today, we came across "Bubble Man" entertaining the youngsters. It was a treat to watch the kids chase and try to burst the large rainbow-hued bubbles. 2 Quote FEAR THE CAIRN!
Sam I Am
Soooo jealous Sanford...those are green bushes and ours are bare and covered with snow! Central park looks like such a great place for a walk and especially with Ruffy. This mornings walk here in Edmonton was much like getting ones children ready to go outside in the winter. Both dogs get boots on and this isn’t only for the cold but also for all the stuff people use as de-icer on their side walks, then come their coats...and then there is us...boots with ice grippers (so you don’t kill yourself ) mittens (because gloves make your fingers freeze off) down jacket and a good hat. Then off we go, on the return trip, the whole routine except backwards. Phew..I am exhausted just writing this. I can commiserate with you, Terrier Lover. So far, winter here has been fairly mild, but to a lesser degree, we still have to deal with the issues you mention. At the merest sign of snow, all the apartment buildings, businesses and parks in my area coat the sidewalks with caustic de-icers, so boots for Ruffy are mandatory. (Sometimes I resort to Musher's Secret, or waxy spray products which are more convenient to use, but not always as effective as the booties). In icy weather, I don't walk Ruffy by the river without wearing ice grippers on my boots. I tried mittens for their superior warmth, but they proved too cumbersome for holding the leash, reaching into my pockets for keys, pickup bags, treats, tissues, adjusting my scarf, hood, etc., so I'm back to using gloves, but I keep hand warmers in them or in my pockets. 3 hours ago, hheldorfer said: What did Ruffy think of the bubbles? Ruffy was very unimpressed with the bubbles because bubbles are not squirrels. He's not interested in anything that doesn't look, smell or taste like meat! 1 Quote FEAR THE CAIRN! Idaho Cairns
" Ruffy was very unimpressed with the bubbles because bubbles are not squirrels." Sanford, Sammi would tell Ruffy that bubbles are a great substitute for squirrels because Cairns can make bubbles completely disappear!!!! 3
