A day in the life of our dogs

Sam I Am

Recommended Posts

Winter has arrived yet again in our area...we go from slush to freezing roads covered by snow in a mere few hours. Such is life in Alberta. Sam and Rosie always go out, boots and a coat , us, winter grippers, down coats. The dogs often meet their favourite friends, for Rosie it is only one lab x girl called Daisy, the rest are A good reason to show a Scotties formidable set of teeth. Sam, Mr intact, loves everyone, especially another intact male, a Polish lowland Sheepdog..it’s all about the brolove, also a gigantic Weiheimer who towers over Sam, who shows no fear at all towards this giant , just joy given how fast that tail and bum can waggle. However interestingly enough if a dog shows any sign of aggression towards Sam all bets are off and he turns on the don’t mess with me terrier attitude. Dogs are so amazing at reading body language...even the most subtle sign brings on a reactions. For instant, I pulled a muscle in my upper leg while doing yoga . To help relieve the muscle I was told to sit down on a rolling pin with said leg, role back and forth to loosen the muscle. So I did that..Sam reacted in purepanic, running into the room, licking my face and whining [no doubt thinking, old lady down]😳

Just another day with the beasts.💕

Too soon, too soon!  Seems like everyone is getting hit and yet here we are bright and sunny with temps in the 40's but we know what is coming!!!!  As much as my girls used to love the snow, I have a feeling that they, like me, would love to avoid it this winter.

Here's an example where two pampered Cairns call it "Game Over!" when it comes to mini-white out conditions.  They can handle snow but blowing snow ain't their thing.

I must say Ruffy and Sam would make a marvellous brace! Especially if they wear  the tartans.  Poor Rosie gets Jocks second hand me downs.

Thank goodness for the new generation of hardwood flooring--it takes a lickin' and keeps on tickn'.  However we still use throw rugs to get most of the snow the dogs drag in.  Fortunately since they have both gotten older we seldom see those hair snowballs--they don't stay out long enough to let those things form.

yep, very decisive sammi and bonnie!  that ruffy is killer handsome. even in plaid (the acid test).

It takes a special kind of man to wear plaid well!
