So you want a terrier....a Cairn Terrier.🤣https://wagwalking.com/behavior/why-are-cairn-terriers-hard-to-train

The dogs in my life have been many different breeds, an English Sheep dog, and Irish Wolfhound, a Beagle X,  German Shepard and last but certainly not least, Sam is our third Cairn and Rosie is our second Scottish Terrier.  The dogs excluding the terriers have been a snap to train, even the beagle cross was a cinch...not the terriers, well that’s a different story. The Scotties  although stubborn are very easy going dogs (with their owners) recall not so good if there is something more interesting. Now the Cairns...yowzer, full of energy, prey driven, its my way or the highway attitude, sweet, adorable, kind, amusing...well it goes on and on. I love my Cairn...I love my Scottie, but they are a challenge no doubt about and in my opinion most terriers are not suitable for first time dog owners. Love them and would never have another breed type ...but then I have years of learning under the leash and continue to learn...daily. I praise Sams breeder who is adamant when deciding if you can have one of her pups. It’s important prior to owning one of these little Cairn-terrorists that for a year or so it will be a challenge in raising a well behaved terrier.
