I don't know how this popped up in my facebook which I hardly ever go to. But want to share because I know we have several tree climbing cairns in our forum. It seems to Have been added by Mathew Brumbaugh to a topic Cairn Terriers from the Past

That is adorable! It looks like a very young pup and if he can climb like that at such a tender age... the sky's the limit for that talented pooch!👏

P.S. It's a good thing that Ruffy was not around...He would have assumed that was a squirrel in the tree - and - I'm sure you can imagine the rest!😱

I think I've recollected in the past, on this forum, how my Holdsworth who passed in 2000 used to climb large oak trees up to six feet chasing squirrels. The eastern oak is such that the bark is thick with a lot of cubby holes where claws can dig in. He tried to "hug" the tree and often got that far.  It was amazing to watch.  :)
