Not a cairn: Asta/Skippy

Last night a 1930's "Thin Man" movie with old stars William Powell and Myrna Loy was on. Of course, I watched it for the co-star, the wire haired fox terrier, Asta, (Real name Skippy).
I'm a fan of wire haired fox terriers and considered getting one before Ruffy came along. Don't tell him!  The Thin Man movies have a definite retro charm, although the social conventions at that time of non-stop boozing, tipsiness and choking clouds of cigarette smoke are a bit alarming.

Another reason I watched was to see Myrna Loy. Many years ago, I used to see her in the neighborhood from time to time. (Please forgive the name-dropping). Of course she was much older then and a bit heavier, but her beauty always attracted looks from passers-by.

Back to cairn terriers: I also watched "Midsomer Murders" last night, a BBC crime drama re-run, (briefly) featuring a captivating, wonderfully shaggy Cairn Terrier, who miraculously avoided being murdered along with a rabbit in an opening scene, then escaped a motorcycle explosion later on! Good dog!?

I've always been a "Thin Man" movie buff myself.  Love the sophisticated interaction between Powell and Loy--sorta racy for the times.  Personally they would have done better if "Asta" had been a Cairn--at least they would have had a canine mind as sharp as their human characters and I guarantee that a Cairn "Asta" would not hide under the bed when the fireworks/gun play started!
