Bird mites! Help!

Pepper got into a Allen birds nest this morning and now I'm worried she might have gotten bird mites on her.  I immediately gave her a thorough bath and sprayed her mouth out.  Anyone have any experience with this?  Really don't want them in the house!

I am not sure about mites but I know lice and some other such critters tend to be species specific. Try to say that fast.

Best be I think is to phone your vet. Did a quick google and it does sound like they can effect humans and dogs. Beyond that I can't offer any advice.
