Curious - Path of UTI's

Maisie is now cleared of her UTI, after quite a scare during her 10 days on antibiotics.   I'm sure that some of you have had dogs with urinary tract infections, and if so, can you tell me how long after his/her first dose of antibiotics did it take to show some improvement?  With Maisie, she actually got worse before she got better.  On her 3-4th day on meds, she started peeing in the house again and one of those times her urine was reddish brown, very dark in color, and then her urine after that had little tiny drops of blood in it.  I called Watchusetts Emergency line and was told to give it a few more days and let them run their course.  They asked me if she was still peeing and she was.  After that day she started to get better, no more peeing in the house but still straining.   Thankfully she is all better now, had her physical, shots and is doing great.  Her vet told me that if it continues to be a problem, then they'll have to take a look at her bladder.

Maisie playing with one of her favorite toys.  Sorry about the clarity, it was just taken with my phone, which lately doesn't take the best of pictures...
