Popular Post Dempsy's Mom
We keep plugging along. Christmas we were without power for about 6 hours is all. 12000 people are still without power so we feel lucky. It was a strange Christmas, but surprisingly fun. Christmas Eve was with friends - weather wasn't so bad. Christmas Jim and I played cards by candlelight and held off with dragging out the generator hoping for power to return. Rained most of Christmas. Got a phone call from the neighbors to come over for prime rib - told them if the power comes on we will jump in the shower and be there. An hour before the meal was to be served the power came on and we enjoyed a wonderful Christmas supper. Our drive over to their place was in rain with mild wind. When we returned home Dempsy and Elsie got to have a little prime rib too and went to bed quite happy with their Christmas. Monday was much worse with high winds around 50 mph, blowing snow - made it a real blizzard. Even with the rain, wind and snow Dempsy, Elsie and I continue to bottle feed Maggie (the little calf attacked by coyotes). She is out with the other calves and doing great. Farm prices are in a real slump and we are a little anxious about 2017 - but it will work out. Tomorrow I have to take Demps and Els to a kennel for a couple days. We have a new one in Clark that I am going to try. It's just for 2 days but I hate kenneling them. So that's a quick update - nothing to major happening. We wish you all a very happy year - ready or not here we go again. Sam I Am
Beautiful pictures "of the kids". Glad you got a chance at a warm Christmas dinner...the whole scenario actually sounded rather romantic. Cards by candle lights. I always admire your work ethic at being a farmer. So much dedication to your animals, regardless of the weather or what ever crisis comes up. All the best in 2017 for a good year of crops and a healthy herd. 2 Quote Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie

Kathryn
Hi there Lori, Demps and Elsie! Glad your Christmas went well despite setbacks. We had freezing rain here in Minneapolis and cancelled all plans that required travel - even just across town. Steve made us a fire in the fireplace, and Oban and I camped there all afternoon and evening! Oban loved it but is quite jealous of the prime rib...
Malcolm's Dad
Good to hear from you. As usual Dempsy and Elsie are helping to run the farm. Christmas was not perfect still you had a good time. We had some below zero temps that I think you had too. Prime rib YUM! Stay warm.
