Beware of the Seeds

Rylee's mama

Recommended Posts

Recently Rylee has been bringing in seeds that burrow under his skin so I did some research to figure out what he could possibly be bringing in. It turns out that the seeds that Rylee is brining in are SUPER dangerous to dogs(I mean like deadly) so I wanted to tell y'all because I don't want any of the dogs to get seriously hurt.

This is the foxtail which easily migrates into the dogs skin and can seriously harm them.

This is the grass awns which come in many different types but this one is very common. They can also migrate into the dogs skin, hurt them or possibly kill them.

Please watch for them and be careful what your dog gets into!

Foxtails are something to watch out for in our area also. Wherever we have walked and at whatever time of year I always run my hands through Angus's fur and check his paws and head closely. He gets quite a few kinds of seed and stickers on him as he hunts through the brush and undergrowth.
