Malcolm's Dad
The evening news reported fires in many western states including Oregon. Wow it looks like the western US is on fire. Hope Brad and our western friends are all ok. Take care our Cairn buddies and stay safe.

hheldorfer
I've been following that story too. The fires are terrible and the ungodly heat is making it even worse. Stay safe everyone!

Idaho Cairns
We're good here. However, with the lush growth from our wetter than usual Spring and the warmer and much dryer weather coming, the hills and mountainsides around here are ready to rock and roll if we get any lightning. But, it is what we live with and the fire suppression guys are just superb so I suspect we will be fine.
Autumn & Lola
Glad to hear it, Chuck. Geez, this is the first I've heard of it. I hope Brad responds soon and anyone else in that area.

Idaho Cairns
They can be a scary thing--here's our last serious fire in 2012 viewed from our driveway. The fire is about 3 miles away at this point and the wind had just changed--instead of blowing right toward us, it shifted and pushed the fire sideways to our neck of the woods. However, we were under an evacuation order, but of course, being responsible citizens, we were long necking the blaze, sitting in law chairs, chatting with neighbors---BUT our cars were loaded with the family valuables and ready for the rush out and off the hill if things got worse. It is all a bit surreal but we realize that at anytime, given the size of fire and the weather pushing it--our entire side of town could burn in a matter of hours--just part of the situation we live with in these dry old mountains.

Malcolm's Dad
Thank goodness Idaho and Brad are ok. After hearing about the town being destroyed in Canada I thought it might happen out west. If it isn't fires in the west its flooding happening on the east coast like what happened to Sanford. So glad our Cairn families are safe and sound.
