eastofeden
Okay, So most folks spend a nice quiet Sunday sleeping in..having brunch sipping espressos & mimosas. Me..I'm up before down cutting frozen hotdogs into tiny pieces, and then going out into the cold, wind and rain so that my dog can find a dirty old sock that I dropped in a field. I might just be certifiable. But I have taken up another dog sport called tracking. In which the dog follows or tracks a scent trail that you have left to locate objects dropped along the way. We have been doing this for about 18 months & Greysen is just about ready to start trialing. This is a map of the track he was following. It was just over 300 feet. It was very windy and you can see at the start how he gets a little confused, as the wind has scattered the scent trail, but once he figures that out he is pretty much following the track footstep to footstep. Below is the video of the track: 5 Quote Raise your expectations for what your Cairn can do....and try very hard to meet your Cairn's expectations of you. bradl
Neat-o! That first turn looks like a doozy. I have Sil's Enthusiastic Tracking book (autographed of course ) just sitting on my family room bookshelf, looking down on my lazy self. What are we waiting for? Let me know when Greysen gets an entry in a trial! 1 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions? Yeah, I have just started to throw 45 degree turns at him, which are considered pretty difficult. But after a little help on the first one..he nails the second one! I've only asked him to do 45 degree corners a handful of times. So I'm very pleased with how he is handling them.
