Lost 2 Friends in Two Days

We figured we were going to lost Deion, our parakeet, as he had been sick for about two weeks.  That was yesterday.  Imagine the shock of losing our Rabbit, Lord Bunnington of Monmouth this morning.   What the devil happened?  Yesterday he was doing his usual hopping around, helping me in the kitchen while cooking, showing up for extra treats when feeding the Gerbils, and hopping up on the couch for scritchies.  This morning, we found him splayed on the living room carpet with quick, shallow breathing.  He didn't even make it to the vet...very short drive.  Right this minute, I am numb from the pain.

Goodbye Deion and Lord Bunnington.  Mom loves you.

I am never sure, Tara, whether it is better to know it is coming or to be surprised.  But it is definitely worse to face both at the same time.  Sorry about your two -- so hard to face this all at once.  Take care of yourself, and hold your puppies close.

So sorry Tara. I know how much you love all your animals.

Conditioning is a strange phenomenon.  I fixed really rich, complicated and delicious salad for DH's birthday today.  When I fix salad, there are always veggie pieces left over that didn't fit, and are perfect for rabbits trolling for treats.  You can't imagine how many times I almost walked over to the rabbit pen area to dole out the treats.  So painful.
