Tami
Okay I finally did it. I signed up Fiona for a barn hunt and both Fiona and Fearghus for lure coursing. It's all in good fun but I'm wondering how they'll do. Fiona seems like she'd be a natural at the barn hunt. After all she's successfully killed three tree rats and two birds in our backyard. She's fast, I mean super fast. The only reason why she doesn't get more kills is because of her death screech that scares those poor critters away. (Okay tree rats are not poor critters. In fact I wish she'd get them all. They're constantly eating our lemons.) Frankie will have to wait until next year and more recall training before he can have a go at it. He's not a year old yet. The events are in another few weeks. I'll post pictures and let you know how they did. 1 Quote Cheers, Tami

bradl
Woo hoo … sounds like we'll see you in Redmond If there is no conflict with lure coursing we'll probably try Dundee (and Echo) in barnhunt. I expect Dundee will DQ himself by peeing on a hay bale. 3 Quote CAIRNTALK: Questions? hheldorfer
What's a "tree rat" ? My best guess is a squirrel. I have friends who call them tree rats too. Good luck to you and Pepper Bug! Edited June 12, 2015 by hheldorfer
Tami
Nope tree rats are really rats, not squirrels. They're also called roof rats. The ones that I've seen Fiona kill (and I do get the "honor" of seeing them up close and personal prior to disposal) are about 5" long, fairly skinny bodies with longer thick tails. At first glance you'd think that they were big mice but the thick tails give them away. They're a dark brown. Quote Cheers, Tami
