Gone but by far not forgotten

Sam I Am

Recommended Posts

Here we are, another year gone by. It always seems to be filled with the thoughts turning to the new year, new adventures, new beginnings. For me it was the year I lost my beloved boy Jock. Funny for some reason I never thought he would leave me. It all seemed to happen so fast, with the years flying by, one minute he was a red brindle goof ball, the next a wise grey haired older fellow.

How we love our dear Cairns. This year a few Cairns earned their Angel wings. Isn't it wonderful to love another creature so much, with all that love being returned ten fold. As painful as it is to lose them I don't think there is one of us that would have changed a minute of having them in our lives. Precious wee souls entwined into our hearts.

For all of us that have lost our beloved dogs, let's raise a glass tonight in honor of them and how much they gave to us, without asking anything in return but to just be beside us.

What a lovely post.  It's nearly midnight here in England. I join you in raising my glass to all the lovely, funny, wild, nutty, adorable, fierce, mischievous and adventurous little friends who were lost this year.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all.

Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven,

Blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.

― Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

Fare thee well, old friends. You will always shine in memory -- memories as wide as the sky and as close as my heart.
