Hi, names Michael G, from Page2Stage Entertainment.

We are looking for a cute male cairn terrier black for a new Musical of the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The musical wil have its world premiere at the Renton Civic Theatre in Renton Washington. We are looking for Dorothy Gales's best friend and only close connection to the little Orphans past. Toto will be on stage with Dorothy for most of the show, but will ahve moments of being off stage and will have some down time. This new musical is closer to a Operetta and will have more music and Costumes than most Oz productions. We are looking for dogs that can work well with all the actors that will be 18 years or older, bond with our Dorothy's, and stick close to her and the three guys with out being on a leash. We have the nrmal scenes from the film, Toto knocking over the wizard's screen, and chasing a cat during the Balloon launch, and chase stuffed rabbits and squrels. The production is going to be from July 3rd till july 20th and possibly one more week after that. We are having audtions in Jan and Feb of 2014 and will start rehearsals March of 2014 for 12 weeks and then tech till we open the show. If any one hs a cute little guy that woudl be a great Toto for our Dorothy's and are dark brindle please contact Page2Stage Entertainment at wwozanewmusical@gmail.com or totomike3@gmail.com You can go to our Website or the Show and leanr more about the project, and even listen to demo's of songs rom the show. www.thewonderfulwizardofozanewmusical.com

Hi, congratulations and good luck with your endeavor. I can't speak for everyone in this forum, but even if

I lived around the block from where you are rehearsing and performing, I can't imagine parting with

any of my 3 Toto look-alikes for a moment to be trained for a play...to be traumatized by exposure

to a strange environment and unfamiliar people... I can't spare them for or expose them to something like that.

You might be looking in the wrong place.

I could spray paint Sassy black, but don't know how to fix the boy/girl thing. And I am just down the road from you. Dang.

At least they are looking for a proper Toto ... some productions will use any random small dog. I think Terry got the original Toto gig primarily because the dog -- a Scottie? -- they intended to use wasn't half the actor :P

There have been several WOZ productions in town here and one Cairn, Happy, has been in more than one. He loved it and his owner was with him at every production (so yeah, it's a commitment). Our breeder also had a Toto in a production many years ago. I don't think it's necessarily a bad thing and the quality of the experience is really up to the owner, who must look out for the dog's well being in any case.

The theater company makes a good bit of difference too. The director we worked with really viewed Iz as a part of the cast and not a prop, Big time commitment as there are few scenes w/out Toto. But the WOZ summer ranks up there as one of my favorites...and most of all Izze loved it.

Raise your expectations for what your Cairn can do....and try very hard to meet your Cairn's expectations of you.

Neat! At least the director is looking for a Cairn to fill the role. I think it could be great fun for an owner but a ton of work to get them ready for the show. Last local production I saw many years ago they used a Schnauzer and that just bothered me so much I never good get into an otherwise pretty good production.

Hi, I can't believe I missed this post, but I have a male cairn and we live in Renton, WA. If you're still looking for a cairn, let me know. I'm so excited!
