kjwarnold Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 This morning I took Kirby along with my church group to visit members and friends in nursing homes. Packy has done this several times but it was Kirby's first time. He was such a good boy! Canes, lots of moving wheelchairs, oxygen machines and even a vacuum didn't faze him. Everyone got kisses, a wagging tail and happy smiles. He was certainly the highlight of the visit for everyone. Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
Sam I Am Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 What a great picture! And he is so handsome with his Christmas collar on! Maybe it's a good thing Packy isn't there...is there a fish tank in the residence ? Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
tomatosandwich Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Lovely! I don't know how you can be anything but happy with a cute, well-behaved Cairn in your sight! How nice of you and Kirby to spend your time and joy with others!
josie&holly Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Lovely photo, it looks as if Kirby is listening to a story someone is telling him! I sometimes take Holly in to see a friend in a Nursing Home and she is always good, they seem to know how to behave in such a situation. We see our friend and then usually call in some of the other rooms on way out. www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Hillscreek Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 A lovely picture. Kirby you are such a great cairn. Bringing joy at Christmas!
hheldorfer Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 You rock, Kirby! I bet you get lots of scratches and pets. Where do I sign up? Buffy
Dempsy's Mom Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Yes, it does look like Kirby is in a conversation. He is enjoying himself just as much as they enjoyed him. Maybe your next visit you'll bring them as a team. Cute comment about the fish tank. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Kathryn Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 He looks so calm! Clearly a people-dog, very attentive. You can be proud of him!
tlwtheq Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Cairns are such a blessing. Whose heart wouldn't melt? Way to go Kirby and Packy! How thoughtful of you to share their light with others... Max and Nelly
TazTalk Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Kirby - you little angel. What a great thing for you to do and I'm sure they were asking when he'd come back. I hope to always have a Cairn in my life ... well into my senior years
kjwarnold Posted December 9, 2012 Author Posted December 9, 2012 What a great picture! And he is so handsome with his Christmas collar on! Maybe it's a good thing Packy isn't there...is there a fish tank in the residence ? No fish tanks but they all had huge bird cages, which was right up Kirby's alley, duck hunter that he is. He was very good about it though (no screeching), just watched the birds intently. He thought it was very cool that he could walk right up to one of the cages and look at the birds on the ground. There was a younger woman in a wheelchair that was fascinated watching him, watch the birds. She couldn't talk well, but she knew "birds" and "dog," and couldn't take her eyes off Kirby. She got to pet him and he gave her a very sweet kiss. All of the Cairns I've had have been so good in nursing homes and with little kids. They just seem to know when to be calm and be on their best behavior. Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
Hawkeye Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Bless his heart! I love how he is sitting so pretty and he does look like he is in deep conversation. Such a good boy, hopefully he got a big treat for his charitable deed.
