Beautiful hike yesterday, climbing up to Cougar Ridge overlooking Matheson Lake. Gus is wearing his bell.

Lunch at the lake.

Thanksgiving was last month here in Canada, but I am so thankful to be alive and walking in the woods with my little pal.

Beautiful scenery enhanced by a little dog looking out on his world!

Beautiful place to hike. The lake looks like a mirror. Gus almost looks like a wolf in the 3rd picture.

Just beautiful! You lucky dogs.

Well our dogs enjoyed Yellowstone last month--here they are (leashed unfortunately--Park rules) along the lovely Madison River, preparing for a cold wade.

This was followed by a long drive up to the Lamar Valley where they got to warn a herd of buffalo not to get to close to the Jeep--here we have Fran watching the buffalo sparring, Sammi trying to figure out how to get out and begin a chase, and little Bonnie captured in the rear view watching me take a picture of the whole scene--I didn't notice the little one in the mirror, it was just one of those neat moments.

Great photos. Idaho, I just love happy accidents. You couldn't have posed Bonnie better. :)

He does indeed look like a wolf . . . a wolf surveying his territory and thinking "it's mine, all mine!"

Stunning photos!

Love the Yellowstone pix too. Would love to take Gus buffalo hunting some day!!

Would love to be in any of these places.

Can hardly wait for retirement - then DH, the dogs and I will be getting our great photos too!

Cairns sure can tell those buffaloes where to go and how to get there from inside the car! Lots of growls and quiet little "woofs" from them if the buffs were close to the car but much more aggressive when the buffs were across a valley. Interestingly, we drove quite close to several elk and the dogs didn't even seem to notice them--can't figure that out since they give the neighborhood deer quite a bit of attention. No bears this trip--I would like to see that encounter--many years in the past when I had Labs, they used to go absolutely wild when we fed black bears on the roadside--bears could not have cared less.

You guys go on extreme adventures.. I only go around the nighborhood, sometimes we go to a school park/track or something, :D

I bet the cairn would love to go to a real cairn out in the mountains though.... ha

Nick, your in your teens, I'm in my 70's and I'd trade you in a minute! Your day is coming my friend and you have a real advantage--you discovered Cairn Terriers at a far younger age than I did! So much time so many more Cairns!

Besides, I only live 150 miles from Yellowstone--it's easy for us get there.

We have some beautiful places. Love your pic - just gorgeous.
