Our little "helper" - DIY Lola

One of the best things about Lola joining our family is Nick's reaction to her terrier antics. Having only had greyhounds in the past, he is regularly amazed at these little dogs.

The past two weeks we've been doing several things in/to the house, including getting new carpeting for the living room, moving furniture, hooking up electronics and sorting through two combined households full of stuff. In other words, a mess! Nick was hooking up the DVD player and Lola was *right there*. He was fixing a table leg, and Lola planted herself under the table. When the carpet installers came, she had to be right alongside them. Trying to move furniture up and down the stairs when a little four-legged furball is right there underfoot "helping" makes it a bit more tricky. :D

I asked him, "What would Alfie (his last greyhound) have done during all this? He said, "Gone in the bedroom and taken a nap." He still can't get over how Lola wants to be right in the thick of things, "helping" with all our DIY projects. We'll have to get her a hard hat and some work gloves. :)

I think Lola would look adorable in a hard hat. Maybe a pink one. And some matching booties.

If you really want to go all out, get her a little tool belt. :P

Pepper was a real help last night when the garbage disposal plugged up! She was under the sink checking everything out and particularyl loved it when the drain opened up and the water and sweet potato peelings spilled out into the bucket!!

Yup, they sure like being in the mix. We have quite a few people stop throughout our days - salesmen, neighbors, hunters and Demps is right there to greet them and then follows them in the kitchen and plops down right by their feet. Little Lola likes to know what is going on and who you have allowed in the house. It's pretty sweet.

Oh yeah...my babies have to be where the action is! It's just their job to keep everything in order! :)
