While out at an antique market my DH found this old frame complete with two Cairns.. I fell in love with it!

Ahhh...the print was upright when I attached it, but if you enlarge the picture it's right side up.

How neat is that? Looks like a pastel, maybe?

Oh yeah. I would of snapped that up in a heartbeat. When I visited Kathryn she has some really neat old dog pics and I fell in love with the idea - I have been keeping my eye open when I go to antique shops for a neat old pic - I think hers were of hounds - my daughter has a hound and she loved the pics too. Good buy! You will treasure this forever.

Ok..so this is very weird! My DH took the back cover off the frame that holds this print and there is a write up about the dogs. Their names are Sandie and Jock!! Our now gone Scottie's name was Sandie and of course Jock is our Cairn!

Looks like you were meant to have that picture!

I go to estate sales and auctions all the time and I never see anything related to Cairns. You must have the Cairn mojo working for you.

Whoah.... that's beyond weird. I'd even call it spooky!!!!!

Neat - I don't have that one! But I have collected a few over the years, and I do have a cairn print and a couple other terrier (scottie, westie, etc.) prints. Thy are very hard to find, and I treasure mine.

(I also have one of beagles barking at a fox and hounds painting, and one of an irish setter in the back of a big old 1930s car...and one of a scuffy little terrier in a bathtub...)

I've been looking about 15 years, and I have a total of seven. You were very very lucky to find this one.

That is so cool! That is what I do - when I have a story about an antique I write it up and tape it on the back. Who doesn't wonder about a treasure that you have purchased - "if they can only talk" and this way they can. Isn't it wonderful that those people shared with you! And the coincidence on the names. :) Great!

This is certainly a strange coincident - sure sounds like the picture was meant for you both. I too have a similar picture of a Westie (or a Cairn) and a Scottie that I have had for a very long time (maybe thirty years) and when you flip it over, there are signatures of previous owners. I consider this a pure treasure and a bit of history. I've always enjoyed this picture and have always found a place in my homes for it to be displayed. Now I'm going to try to add a picture of both front and back.

I have to admit I would've been hooked. It's something you may never see anywhere again. Really wonderful.
