Recently there were a couple episodes of Dennis the Menace featuring Fremont the Cairn.

Mr. Wilson was painting his house. Dennis comes along. Mr. Wilson tells Dennis not to open the gate or Fremont will get out. Dennis opens the gate anyway. Fremont dashes out and runs down the street. Mr. Wilson says "Oh no! Dennis the last time Fremont got out it took 2 hours and 3 lbs. of hamburger to get him back."

The next episode Mr. Wilson is bringing a dish of dog food over to Fremont's dog house in the yard. Fremont comes out of the dog house. Then Dennis comes out. Then Tommy comes out. Then a few other kids come out. Mr. Wilson asks "What are you all doing in there?" Dennis tells him its the kids clubhouse.

Later in this episode Mr. Wilson is marking a section of his lawn with stakes and string. Mr. Wilson doesn't want Dennis to help so he gives Dennis a stake and tells him to play with Fremont. Dennis pretends to throw the stake for Fremont but holds it behind his back. Fremont runs over to check some bushes but doesn't find the stake. So Fremont grabs a stake and brings it over to Dennis with all the other stakes and string dangling behind. Fremont sits holding the stake with that proud Cairn look "Here is the stake, I found it."

I've watched these reruns before and never took much note of Fremont. He is the star of these epsiodes now.

Fun. I will have to pay more attention - I love Dennis the Menace.

I'll have to ask my husband about this because he, too, has an encyclopedic knowledge of old TV shows and their stars. I remember Dennis the Menace but I don't recall Fremont. Another Cairn star identified!
