Fearghus and Fiona are getting along

So it's been almost a week and I'd have to say that Fearghus has finally seemed to accept that this little creature, Fiona, is not going to go away, ever!

He's starting to play with her more but we still give him some alone time. He's taken the habit of going into his pen (we leave the door open) and keeping Fiona company while she's in her pen.

The potty training is going fairly well. Any accidents (and there have been a few) are all totally mea culpa. After all when she whines that she has to go, well by golly that means absolutely right this minute.

Here's a link to a youtube video of them playing together:

Cheers,

Tami

That certainly is one spunky puppy! Fiona hangs in there really well with Feargus and I suspect he is enjoying her a bunch. I'm sure you are past the hump of these dogs "getting along"--looks like they are doing just fine with each other. Now all the fun begins.

How can they bark without letting go of the toy? :confused1: Looks like their having a good time.

Lovely video. Really enjoyed watching it. Love them both. Glad they are getting along so well.

So great to see them playing together. Angus liked it also. He came hurrying over and watched for about half a minute.

Great video! Thanks for sharing. Looks exactly like Attila and Tessa. :) Fearghus and Finoa are getting a long splendidly! Cairns were meant to come in two's...

I love the linoleum roll idea!! That is so much better than my tarp idea - INDESTRUCTIBLE(!!!)

Oh my. I sure do understand the house with the linoleum, and the many dog pens, and the dogs' bowls, and the dog toys, and the dog bedding... ! ;) I had a friend once who commented on all our dog gates but - hey, they are nice dog gates! Looks like your house has "gone to the dogs" too.

Looks like those two are building a great relationship. adorable to watch the two together. Makes me want a puppy!

That was lovely to watch those two playing together - they are having great time. Then the bit at the end wher Fiona suddenly decides to play with a toy as big as herself is so funny!

Pegi is in my office barking up a storm while I am watching this video - she's not sure if she should bark at the squeek, pups growling or barking or thunder going on outside!

We have a large family room with sliding doors that lead to the backyard. When we bought the house I had visions of a large family dining table for big dinner gatherings. Ah, so guess how many times we hosted anything remotely big enough that I had to get the folding tables out there? Yeah, only twice.

It was a no brainer to make it the dog area when we first got Fearghus. The linoleum was a scrap piece that I got at a flooring shop. Unfortunately I didn't get so lucky with the piece that I bought recently for Fiona's use. In fact I've tripped on it a couple of times so the room has been rearranged so that both pens fit on the original linoleum. But it's a good solution for anything messy. I'll save the other piece for art projects.

Yes, our house has gone to the dogs but we love it! There are baby gates to block off the family room/kitchen for when guests come over. Fearghus is old enough that he's allowed to be in the living room and dining room with us. Bedrooms and office/studio are still off-limits to dogs. I shudder to think what trouble they'd get into if I let them have free access to the area where I sew. Threads, fabrics and pins, oh my!

Cheers,

Tami

Thanks for the video, so nice to see them bonding. I was getting concerned for a moment - I did not hear any growling at first, but finally they started in. Phew...my two growl all the time while playing tug of war games.

We have a large dining room too. The only times we have had a crowd eating in the room have been our occasional doggie birthday parties. Both people and their dogs invited, of course! Last time it was about 10 folks - and 10 dogs. Oh my.

They look delighted to have each other's company. By the way, is that a toy raccoon? We have an eviscerated one laying around here somewhere . . .

Yes, it's one of those long stuffing-less soft toys that the big box pet stores have for sale. They seem to last a bit longer than the ones with stuffing. Fearghus always seems to kill those types within minutes if not seconds.

Makes me want another one! Ellie would be thrilled! However since she was $1300 we definitely can't afford another one.

Looks like lots of fun around your house!

We don't have any children so we were able to indulge ourselves in getting a second cairn. Even with double the vet visits, toys, food, and misc. doggie supplies we're still paying less than our friends who have children. We're lucky that we don't have to constantly buy new collars or leashes. My goodness, I can't imagine the expense of all the back to school wardrobe shopping that's going on right now. ;)

Cheers,

Tami

My children are grown and my grandchildren are mostly teens. I cannot wait to indulge myself with a second carin. Tess is just 6 1/2 months now so it will be a while but I am quite sure I will get a second one.

Ain't it the truth? Now Teddy tells me he wants a vacation home (he'll let us tag along).
