A group of Brits from their forum got together for a stroll in Sherwood forest. Sorry pic so small but maybe you get the idea.

Yes it is that Sherwood Forest - where Robin Hood hung out!

Awww. I love them even more in multiples like that. It seems like they were comfortable around each other.

We had a great afternoon, it was warm and sunny but not too hot and there was a pleasant breeze blowing. There was lots of shade under the trees. Seven cairns and six humans! We got plenty of attention from other folk walking there who wanted to know what sort of dogs they were, and folk who told us that they used to have a cairn when they were younger, or knew someone who did, and you don't see them so often these days!

On one part of the walk it was more open countryside and off the main tracks so we let the dogs off lead. Suddenly they all raced towards a couple who were sat having what they thought was a quiet romantic picnic!! They were eating strawberries and drinking wine when suddenly they were visited by seven Cairns!! We dashed over, apologised and the dogs went back on lead!

All the dogs got on with each other, there was no snarling or problems it was a really lovely afternoon.

I know a flock of crows is called a murder...what is a herd of Cairns called?

 We were trying to think up a name for it and came up with a 'chaos' of Cairns

I went on this meet up too and it was so great to see the Cairns interacting with each other and no growling or falling out.

I took a photo of the ' Major Oak' and here's a bit of history about it

The Major Oak is a huge oak tree near the village of Edwinstowe in the heart ofSherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire, England. According to local folklore, it was Robin Hood's shelter where he and his merry men slept. It weighs an estimated 23 tons, has a girth of 33 feet (10 metres), and is about 800–1000 years old.[1] In June 2002, the Tree Council designated the Major Oak one of fifty Great British Trees in recognition of its place in the national heritage.

Wow. It's beautiful. Just like a fantansy land - ... on the path to OZ. Really enjoying the pics - any more? If I was having a romantic moment, cairns would be welcome ? what's the problem? :) Haha - I bet they had a laugh about it later on in the day and maybe in years to come will still remember that day on the picnic when they were attacked by tribe of bouncing cairns. :)

great pics! A big group of any dogs is so fun, but I think the sheer variety of colors in a group of cairns is just spectacular to look at! looks like a fun day!

Wonderful pictures, the scenes look like something from a "Golden Ring" movie.

Thanks for sharing these on the US forum, Josie and Maggie. I love the second picture with all the cairns lined up and the beautiful pics in Sherwood Forest.

Hey there Hillscreek, thanks for posting these British Cairns on here on their day out!

I'm a member of the UK forum and looks like they had a great day out. I was especially pleased to see young Dylan (in the group photo, dog furthest on the right), as this is my Holly's pup :)

All the other Cairns there I have met too, and they are all fab Cairns, lovely to see them all together again!

Would love to meet them in Sherwood, but it's usually too far for me to go, being in Wales.

I don't often come here on this forum, but maybe I should visit more!

I never knew how beautiful chaos could be...thanks!
