bradl Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Just a quick trip out for some local camping: Milo McIver State Park in Estacada OR ... only about an hour from our house. Couple of the dogs got groomed a bit; walks were taken; and Dundee was miffed that even though he sat at the table, he never got served. Some sights: a standard-issue Oregon Racing Slug (midget division) The roar that served as white noise was a hydroelectric dam a quarter mile behind us. Haggis as usual was happy to be wherever he was. CAIRNTALK: Questions? Need help? → Support Forum Please do not use PMs for tech support CRCTC: Columbia River Cairn Terrier Club | 2025 Calendar
Dempsy's Mom Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Fun and amazing. Love watching the slug slink along. Dam is so amazingly powerful. It's a nice get-a-way for Haggis and Dundee and only an hour away. How fun is that.?! Can't wait to show the dam to Jim - he likes that stuff. Thanks! Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Sam I Am Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Love Dundees coat...and typical Cairn, where is the grub Dad! Wonderful Haggis , there is always something very special about older Cairns. Jock was very interested at the roar of the water and kept cocking his head trying to figure out what the noise was. Here in the prairies we don't hear the roar of waterfalls. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
Islander Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 I know this is off topic but watching two banana slugs mate on my living room window was one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed in my back yard. (It took a long time.)
shergry Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 So nice to see the "old" fella getting out an about!! Love it when Ashes (16) gets a "giddy up" in his step...makes walks so much more wonderful!! And as for Dundee.....can really see the "miffed" look....hahaha! Love the slug race.....goes as fast as I feel sometimes...hee,hee! Wonderful area OR...just loved being there for shows and friends!!
Idaho Cairns Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Haggis is my hero--chugging along, oblivious of the other dogs, smelling away. Just what old Cairns do! He looks like he was feeling pretty sprightly on his walk.
hheldorfer Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for sharing your weekend adventures with us. Looks like beautiful country, even with the slugs. Dundee is very handsome and Haggis looks quite nimble as he's walking and sniffing. I'll bet the new sights and sounds perked him up a bit.
bradl Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Haggis is my hero, too. Drink deeply from the well of life; then sleep with equal gusto in the comfort and safety of your pack. Also, never pass up an opportunity to eat or go to the bathroom. Tips for aging dogs and owners. CAIRNTALK: Questions? Hillscreek Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Have to agree Brad. Haven't had an aged Cairn like Haggis (what a great guy!) but have loved other old ones. They are very special.
Kathryn Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 That young Dundee is turning into quite a beauty. But my heart - and obviously the hearts of many others here -- is with the older dog. Old, but never to old to act like a cairn....
bradl Posted April 23, 2012 Author Posted April 23, 2012 Echo and Stella were both along too, just no decent photos. The girls thought for sure we were at an earthdog test and wanted to hunt, Hunt, HUNT. CAIRNTALK: Questions? Hawkeye Posted April 23, 2012 Posted April 23, 2012 Thanks for sharing your getaway with us. Loved seeing the video of Haggis...he's doing great! (I also have a soft spot for our oldies.) And Dundee - kind of surprised he didn't get a big old piece of meat with a look like that. He is so handsome!
josie&holly Posted April 24, 2012 Posted April 24, 2012 Haggis is a great guy, bet he really enjoyed the change of scene and chance for fresh smells! And love the expression of Dudee's face! Hope he got a reward for sitting there so nicely! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
