Carolinasmom Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I took Ellie in to get her leptospirosis vaccine and lo and behold, another Cairn in the waiting room! He, (owner) was chatting with a lady whom also has a Cairn, (dog was not with her...darn!) After chatting with this guy and meeting his dog, 14 mos. old, I found out he knows the people we got out dog from! He is just starting to show and the man we got our dog from gave him some tips in the ring I guess. Small world! Anyway, it was fun to chat about our dogs. I told him about this forum. Maybe he'll stop in here sometime.
Dempsy's Mom Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Ya know, that is a special feeling - to meet a fellow cairnnite. When Dempsy and I ventured out to Kathryn's house to meet T-Bone and Allie it was a delightful experience. Glad you had a nice encounter. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Lynn in TN Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 It is very nice to meet someone who has a Cairn. I haven't seen a cairn in our area but met a woman at Pet Smart who has one. Wish her Cairn had been with her!
tlwtheq Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 There's a lady less than half a mile away in our neighborhood whose 2 Cairns get excited every time we walk by. We've actually talked to her a couple of times and recommended the forum. I've never seen her here...too bad. It is nice comparing notes with other people who are owned by Cairns. Max and Nelly
hheldorfer Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 There's another Cairn in our neighborhood but I don't know exactly where he lives - met him and his mom walking one day. What's the first thing she said? "These sure are stubborn little devils, aren't they?"
Hillscreek Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 There are two big dogs roaming loose in our neighborhood at the moment. I went up a house where some people moved in awhile ago. I wondered if they knew anything them. Well they didn't but they had two dogs who came out to visit. One was a TINY Toto look alike. Both dogs were rescue dogs. The Cairn they saw in a pet shop. She'd been there far too long and no-one was interested. These people had had a Cairn a long time ago. They couldn't bear to see her there so they negotiated the too high price down and bought her. She is just SO small maybe ten pounds and most of that looks like coat but she is all Cairn attitude wise. She has a great place to live out here in the country. A good story I thought. Amazing we should find we had a neighbor Cairn as few people around here know what a Cairn is.
_whits_ Posted March 19, 2012 Posted March 19, 2012 I get sooooo excited to see other Cairns. I have been known to casually follow them until I can get their owner's attention. It's odd that I hardly ever see any Cairns, but I get approached all the time when I'm with Addie by people who either have or have had Cairns. I've only seen three actual Cairns since I got Addie. Addie and I met Cairn #3 today actually. Unfortunately, he wasn't socialized and was very unfriendly.
