TazTalk Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 In downtown Tempe, AZ (near Arizona State U.), Mill Avenue is the bustling restaurant, shops and bar street with all kinds of activity. At the end of the street is a man made lake which is a true oasis in our desert. We like to take Taz down there to walk along the lake and then continue on to people watch on Mill Ave. Well, yesterday, Taz was getting a wee bit thirsty after all the walking so he requested that we stop into the Irish Pub (default for a Scottish pub/bar). They allow dogs on the patio and were happy to have Taz hang out there. The bartender brought over a jerky treat, the waitress brought a bowl of water and Taz enjoyed the people watching and music. What he really wanted was a doggie brew It's a blast to take dogs out on the town.

Idaho Cairns Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 How neat! My dogs would enjoy this so much but we have almost no opportunities in this area.
josie&holly Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 How lovely - there are few places in UK that you could do this! And Taz looks very happy to be there. www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
hheldorfer Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 How sweet! Taz looks like he's saying "Bartender! A cold one, please!"
pindrop Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Taz must have been in seventh heaven - tail wagging with all the attention he got. Glad to hear that there are still places that welcome dogs. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
Dempsy's Mom Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 Belly up!! Party away Taz! ... they can always carry you home. Demps would be there in a tail wag. Sounds like a great way to spend afternoon - so nice that they cater to our little fur buddies. Thanks for the pic. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Hawkeye Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 My two are jealous and so am I. Taz looks to be enjoying the moment - wish more places welcomed our four legged friends.
Lynn in TN Posted February 20, 2012 Posted February 20, 2012 I wish there was places like that here. Kelly would it. At least Taz can enjoy it! I love the picture.
Malcolm's Dad Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 Look at him, perfect manners. No elbows on the table. What a good little gentleman.
Meggie Posted February 21, 2012 Posted February 21, 2012 So jealous! I can't wait for milder weather to go pub patio hopping with Hub!
jlr79 Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 Taz looks like he is having so much fun!! He is so cute!!! We don't have anything like that around here. Abby is very envious!!!
TazTalk Posted February 23, 2012 Author Posted February 23, 2012 I found out that the city ordinance really doesn't allow dogs on the restaurant patios (except service dogs). But we know of at least two restaurants that do it. Maybe they only allow the really cute ones!?!? So ... even though you don't think you can do this ... maybe you really can. Doesn't hurt to ask. Just have your Cairn smile at the waitress, they're hard to resist.
Meggie Posted February 24, 2012 Posted February 24, 2012 NY recently had a crack down on dogs in bars/restaurants. Even places over 100 years old that are famous for their dog friendly tradition But places will let Hub in the sidewalk cafe area (also no longer allowed) cause he's a charmer. We spent an entire meal in Brooklyn with him on my lap soliciting the next table (2 or 3 ft from us) for pieces of pizza the monster.
claymike Posted February 27, 2012 Posted February 27, 2012 Heck not only would Rudy enjoy that I would too!
