Dempsy's Mom Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Dempsy traveled with us to Waterloo this week to see Dad's new John Deere tractor get assembled on the production line. He has done so well. He walked through the hotel without dribbles. ( I made sure he got lots of dribble time prior) Everybody loved him and he beamed with joy as they fussed over him. What a ham. He really liked the king bed and didn't mind sleeping with us. He is just such a joy to have along. Tomorrow we will travel home. The weather has been great. Demps will be happy to be home. josie&holly Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Aw, bet he really enjoyed the attention! They like to show off to an audience don't they! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Lynn in TN Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 I am glad you are having fun and getting attention cute little Dempsy.
Idaho Cairns Posted February 18, 2012 Posted February 18, 2012 Cairns are good travelers so long as you can keep the grumbling and barking to a minimum in a hotel room--sometimes the traffic out in the hall late at night was a bit of a problem. Otherwise, mine have done really well on the road.
Dempsy's Mom Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 We just got home. Digger was happy to see us. Dempsy didn't do bad at all with hall traffic at the hotel, but the bar crowd across the street kinda ticked him off - that made two of us. We did go downstairs for breakfast and I was worried about him barking, I left the TV on and waited outside for a bit - seemed good. Listened as we walked to elevator, as far as I know we did ok. He did really good this morning too without his pp pad. He had to have scratches and attention down the hall and on the elevator - did great, no dribbles - walked down the skywalk to car ramp - did great, no dribbles - all we had to do was to open the door to the cement parking lot and he would of gotten a gold star, but just a little dribble came out as we opened the door. I suppose I should just accept the pp pad. For as much as his butt wiggled while he was getting all the attention I thought for sure he was going to dribble, but not a drop. You just never know when he will dribble - next time we are going to wear our cute little bandanas and not worry about what others think. It is nice to be home. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Good boy, Demps! Now you'd better do a complete inspection of the farm and make sure those cows still know who's in charge.
oscar's mom Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Sounds like Dempsy had a great trip. Were you allowed to bring him into a restaurant? That's great sounds like he went everywhere with you. Cairns are easy to travel with, they are such people doggies.
Dempsy's Mom Posted February 19, 2012 Author Posted February 19, 2012 We left him in the room while we went down to eat. No I don't think hotels have gotten that dog loving yet, have they? You can sure tell the people who don't care for dogs and the ones that do. I carry Dempsy when we are around to many people (like a full elevator or even a larger crowd) I think it's important to make sure you don't invade someone's space. I also take a portable carrier in the hotel room. Demps likes having his little space too and it's nice to have them in the crate when you leave the room. We like taking the less traveled roads - so Dempsy got plenty of pit stops while we were on the road. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
janis Posted February 19, 2012 Posted February 19, 2012 Hi All! Kirby loves to travel with us! We try and go with Daddy when he has an overnight fishing tournement. He loves to go to Paris Landing State Park. The state parks in Tennessee have dog friendly rooms, they ask that you crate them when you aren't in the room. Kirby doesn't mind. And we usually just put at do not disturb sign so I don't have to worry about an attack on an unsuspecting maid..... but he does great! We walk around the park while Daddy fishes his tournement, then we go to the marina to watch the way-in. The biggest problem we have is "going" in a new place! We can walk for hours saying "hurry up and go Kirby" armed with plenty of poop bags, but he gets too interested in sniffing the pee mail and looking for new squirrles!
sanford Posted February 22, 2012 Posted February 22, 2012 ...next time we are going to wear our cute little bandanas and not worry about what others think. I second the idea. I always use a bandanna when I travel with Ruffy. It makes our lives easier... That way, I don't have to be constantly monitoring him and I know that we'll always be welcomed back! FEAR THE CAIRN!
Dempsy's Mom Posted February 22, 2012 Author Posted February 22, 2012 Thank you Sanford. I thought I was the only one that used bandannas. It's always nice to know you're not alone. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
