More news on my puppy

Heard from the breeder yesterday. The puppies were born last Sunday, February 12. All I known right now is that there were only two, both female. So I am getting a little girl.

Now I have a question. I have been thinking of names, but so far all I have is Heather or Fiona. Any suggestions for good Scottish names for my new little girl?

Well, hummm, let's think about that one-----How's about "Bonnie" since I'm really partial to that one? Actually, you can do a google search for "Celtic Woman Names" and come up with some pretty extensive lists of options--some of which are really fun.

My husband named Pegi before we got her (took him 3 years to agree to another dog after our last one passed away); but I have always thought she should be named Cujo. Not Scottish, but entirely appropriate.

We had a list of names for Kirby before we got him, but didn't want to settle on a name until we spent some time with him, to be sure it "fit" him. Sure enough, we didn't use anything on the list and came up with Kirby after he was with us!

I remember this phase so well when we knew our pup was born. I can't tell you how many names hubby would just throw out and together we would discard them one by one. I have no idea where the eventual name Layla came from but I just knew that was the one. This will happen with you too - you will just know the right one. Have fun with the choosing - that's the important stuff.

Fiona is a great Scottish name. We're going to use that for the girl that hopefully we're getting this spring. Then we'll have Fearghus and Fiona.

"Fiona" is a great name for a Cairn! I like it and if you want and she is really feminine it can be "Fi Fi". Not many Cairn females are t "Fi Fi" types tho.

I would help you if I could but we had a hard enough time naming Kelly. Each one of us at our house had a name we liked but the feeling wasn't mutual. We had even named her at one point and changed it because my 2 sons refused to call her Darby. We finally settled on Kelly, but have called her other names as she has went through different puppy phases. Names like Jaws, Cujo, Miss Priss, Princess, are a few names she has went through and a couple I can't name because this is a family forum. LOL

Kelly is a great dog and we love her but she has had her moments. Good luck I hope you find a name you like. Kelly is a Celtic name.

How about Flora or Skye?

We were going to name Hub's kitten girlfriend, Flora! But by the time we realized she (a foster) was permanent she already had become accustomed to her shelter name! Love Flora!!

I've kept a list of dog names since I was a (puppy deprived) child Right now if we were to acquire a girl, I'd go with Cricket or Agnes or Piper.
