Carolinasmom Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 We lost Carolina in Nov. and I started checking around with breeders from the CTCA site and found that most are no longer breeding. I did find one in early Dec. that had just had puppies but I was not ready at that time. I started checking around again not long ago and one of those puppies was still left! The breeder was going to keep a male and female from the litter and show them but they have decided not to show anymore, other than the dogs they still have. So, on Wed. they will be bringing her to us! We visited them yesterday. She's quite the energetic one which my kids love. Carolina was older and never really paid them much attention so they were in heaven yesterday. She will be 5 mos. on Thurs. and is house trained. I thought I wanted a younger pup but with my 3 year old still working on potty training herself I think having a bit older pup will save my sanity! Here she is. Her name right now is Wendy but we will pick a new one, not sure what yet. I like Maggie but my 6 y.o. son likes Superman.
Islander Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Looks like she could use those ears to fly! What a sweetheart. So glad you are bringing a new baby home. Enjoy!!!
josie&holly Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 She looks such a cutie with that dark face! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Idaho Cairns Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 She is really pretty and has that Cairn "square up" stance down to a "T"! I envy you a bunch, I'd love to be starting another pup and the age is really great, particularly if she has be housetrained already. Please keep the information and the pictures coming. I want to add a postscript here--I have always felt one of the best ways to overcome the grief of losing a beloved Cairn is to bring another Cairn pup into the home, it has always helped me and I think it is an honor to the lost companion, a testiment to how valued the departed pet was to the family.

hheldorfer Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 Awwwww . . . she's a gorgeous little devil! And you are hereby ordered to provide scads of photos as soon as she arrives in your home!
Ivy & Lucy's Mom Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 She is adorable. I think 5 months old is perfect. We got Ivy at 8 weeks. Luckily, my daughter was 12, so she was really helpful but it was a lot of working, especially with the potty training. Good luck and enjoy...
bradl Posted February 13, 2012 Posted February 13, 2012 At only 20 weeks-ish, I imagine there's a little re-housebreaking ahead so you don't feel like you missed the entire experience So nice that you are able to fill your lives again with Cairn spirit. TazTalk Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Strike the pose! Oh my ... you are going to have so much fun with her. Let me add to the others -- so, so happy to hear you are bringing home another Cairn.
lindasue Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 I'm with your son; Superman (or Superwoman) is a great name. Although I have always thought that Cujo would be a good name for a cairn..... Linda & Pegi
_whits_ Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Congrats on your new baby! I brought Addie into my life after my previous dog passed away. It took me a couple years to be ready for a dog again, and Addie made me think I shouldn't have waited so long! You can't ever replace the dog you've lost, but I'm a big believer that our new dogs have a little of our previous dogs spirits. I'm sure Caroline is thrilled you're sharing your love with another Cairn. Ad for names: maybe one with a "W" since she's been living with Wendy her whole life so far? Either way, I'm sure she's going to love it and your family. "as far as i am concerned cairns are the original spirit from which all terriers spring, and all terriers are cairns very deep down inside." pkcrossley
utgaard Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 And for names: maybe one with a "W" since she's been living with Wendy her whole life so far? Either way, I'm sure she's going to love it and your family. Wonder Woman? Who rescued whom?
pindrop Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Isn't this just so exciting to have a new little baby Cairn in the house? She is absolutely the cutest little thing with that dark beard and lovely stance. Weasel might be a good name to replace Wendy but of course that is what's fun about having a new member of the family - you all get to choose. Looking forward to tons of pics and all the fun adventures in store for you. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
beccadiane374 Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 Oh, she is adorable! Congratulations on your new additions...so happy for you! I look forward to seeing pictures!! Becky & Tanner
Zekey's Mom Posted February 14, 2012 Posted February 14, 2012 What a cute face!!!! How nice for you and your family. Hope you enjoy many years together. As for the name, how about Waggie? (Wendy + Maggie). Or SuperG, for Supergirl.
Idaho Cairns Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Not to be too directive or anything but I like Celtic names for Scottish dogs where appropriate and this little one is just so pretty that I think.......http://www.amethyst-night.com/names/scotfem.html
jlr79 Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 When I first joined the forum with our Abby when she was.a puppy (she's 7 now) I remember you and Carolina. I was so sorry to hear of her passing. I am so happy for for you now though that you are bringing another sweet puppy into your life!! She is beautiful!!! I can't wait to see more pictures!!!
remltr Posted February 15, 2012 Posted February 15, 2012 Congratulations. Something about that face just screams Bandita to me for the name. Not very Scottish, but she will steal your heart. Sassy Jan 22, 2005 AM. CH. THARRBARR LITE MY FIRE ZOMERHOF
