It was a defuzzin' kinda day

Yucky weather. It is cold, the wind in howling, the snow is blowing and we are lazy. All we wanted to do was stay in the TV room where it was nice and warm. So I asked Demps what he would like to do and he thought he would like to make a Cairn Talk video on defuzzin'. He didn't get his ball all the way defuzzed, but as I post this he now has it 3/4's defuzzed. I trimmed his nails 2 weeks ago - they grow like crazy. I love how they use their little paws - so much like a coon.

Buffy thanks Dempsy for the defuzzin' tips. She says it was a very good instructional video and she's going to try his method on her tennis ball tonight.

Dempsy is just too cute! Murphy was most interested in the squeaking noise!

 That is a another familiar sight! What is with these dogs that they have to defuzz balls as well as kill toys?

A friend gave Holly a green/white/red covered ball for Christmas - her work on it made a very pretty pattern on my cream carpet!

Aww, Dempsy is so cute!

One problem though... both my guys were wondering why my laptop was squeaking. Hope they don't try to desqueak it when I'm not looking!

Pegi is also wondering why the laptop is squeeking - she's looking up at me tilting her head from side to side.

Jock is also standing beside me as I listen to Demps defuzz his tennis ball. :P

Absolutely amazing - Layla was in the back part of the house, I had my headphones on and she STILL heard it and came running. Layla says - "I been defuzzin all my tennis balls for quite a while now." And yes their claws look like little bear cubs!

Hahaha! Great video. I was playing the video and Radar was watching it very intensely...his head cocking from side to side and jumping at my laptop. It was so real to him. Radar says "gimme that ball".

Very funny. I banned fuzz balls from the house because Hub rips them so fast it takes me longer to clean them up!

Is Demps wearing a bandana on his waist? What is that for? I think I've seen this before on other's dogs! Is it a pee protector? :)

Even Dempsy cocks his head when he hears the video. Cute.

Yes. Dempsy is a dribbler and we have our own down home country solution.:)

My girls perked up with the squeaks because these little tennis ball clones are their favorite toys--we got a package of them so Bonnie could retrieve them in the water (couldn't get her mouth around a regular tennis ball). However, they are way too precious to be chewed up around here--they are chased, caught, hidden from each other but never gnawed on.

Oh, we get a squirt every few days!! Very clever! And it matches his fur so nicely, I wasn't sure if my eyes were playing tricks on me! :)

I will confess, the darker side of grooming: every now and then when Hub's sleeping I have to trim some fur down there to prevent post-pee drips  I get all the dirty work.

Love how, when he pulls off some of the fuzz, he spits it out. Allie doesn't, which is why she doesn't get to play too long with tennis balls. I'm afraid she will eat too much of the fuzz.

Clearly, Demps is much more discriminating in his taste...

Out two cairns work as a team. Heidi our female will rip the fabric over the t-ball and leave it hanging and then Henry will grab ahold of it and throw it up in the air. He also loves to carry the ball around by the hanging fabric too, its really funny when he shakes his head like a maniac with either his ball or a toy they have pulled all the stuffing out of.
