J Edgar's cairn terriers?

DH and I went to see "J. Edgar" today, with Leo DeCaprio as J. Edgar Hoover. Towards the end of the film, it shows J. Edgar going into his home, where he is greeted by two dogs that sure looked like cairns to me. A little on the "yakky" side, but cairns.

I came home and googled J. Edgar Hoover and - sure enough -- he had several cairn terriers over his life.

Steve commented that the dogs were probably the only beings in his life that regularly refused to follow his orders....

And during further discussion, Steve also noted that the cairns were the true "subversives" in J. Edgar's life. He was so worried about terrorists! But not about terrierists... And clearly he had no files on the cairns -- the dogs would have shredded them immediately.

Yes, the dogs would have shredded the files immediately... and then possibly eaten any evidence! Thanks for the info!

oh dear. hard to assimilate. a redeeming fact about j edgar, the first i've ever heard. are we sure these dogs were not being held in indefinite detention as merely suspected terrierrists?

OK now you really have me curious - between the movie and the article - I want to know more. Fun.

Another Cairn spotted at the movies! There is a Cairn featured in the trailer for W./E. Which is about the love affair of Prince Edward & Wallis Simpson. Prince Edward kept Cairns while Mrs Simpson preferred Pugs. He gifted Princess Elizabeth (now Queen Elizabeth II) with her very first dog.....a Cairn!!

Although not a Cairn...there is a very cheeky Jack Russell Terrier that all but steals the show in The Artist (the people are great too and this film deserves all the awards and praise that has been heaped upon it.

Raise your expectations for what your Cairn can do....and try very hard to meet your Cairn's expectations of you.
