Hub's Latest Quirk

My boyfriend's apartment is in Brooklyn. His Mom's main residence is in Spain, but she's a flight attendant in the US, so once every month she stays in Brooklyn during her downtime.

Now here's the thing, all the women in both of our families, spoil Hub rotten. He wants a treat? "Oh, he's so cute. Look at him sitting there." Gets one. Never has to do any work for them like he does with us. They cuddle him. Treat him like a baby. Sneak him food off of their plates...so naturally, he adores them.

Well this week, my boyfriend's Mom was in town and Hub decided since she is so very nice to him...he was her dog because his loyalty is to whoever is the last person to arrive anywhere. He loves the novelty of visitors. He's met my brother 3 times and each time wigs out and pees himself...just because he doesn't see him often. I'm not even sure my brother's ever touched the dog. Instant zoomies on sight. There is nothing more thrilling to him than new people to hang out with.

But the other night, my boyfriend's Mom left for Spain. Hubble was devastated. My boyfriend tells me "I think Hubble is trying to summon my Mom back with offerings..."

He proceeds to tell me over the course of that evening...Hub brought every toy he has, one by one and placed them on her bed. He even brought the 'special' treats we give him that are reserved for only the best behavior and normally scarfed down immediately, and placed them on her bed and sat around waiting for her.

Essentially, he built her a "Hey! Come back! Look at all this awesome stuff we can play with and eat" alter. Our dog is either well versed in voodoo or just a generous, sensitive goofball.

Is that the sweetest thing or what? Just when you think you know Cairns they go and do something you never expected. Although I wouldn't doubt that Hubble practices voodoo, I believe he's just a sensitive goofball. Give him a cuddle and tell him mom will be back before he knows it.

Hub "cheats" on me all the time with my bf's Mom, and one of the girls from his office. He's quite the ladies' man these days! I'm thinking about stealing him away when I go upstate this week, to try and win him back...maybe he'll erect me a monument

ahhh. Poor little guy is heartsick. Hub, you are just the sweetest. I wish I was there to be his new best friend - but on the bright side it sounds like grandma will be flying back in soon. Just leave everything on her bed and she will come.

Oh Hub is a generous, sensitive goofball that's for sure. Plus maybe a bit of a ladies man...what a sweet story!
