BetsyNoodle Posted December 17, 2011 Posted December 17, 2011 Okay, so I admit it. I went a little cracker dog at the formal photo shoot….but so did my sister, Gracie, the Lab. It really was NOT my fault. The scene was set for some great Christmas pics. The nice lady was pointing and ready to shoot…then these two Shelties walked in, and suddenly the worst case of the zoomies hit me. I zoomed faster than I’d ever zoomed before. I did zig-zags, serpentines, figure eights…moves never before seen in the history of zoomies, or so the lady said. The Shelties, then Gracie (normally so prim and proper) joined in. The back drop sagged, poinsettia leaves went flying, the little Christmas tree tipped over. Long story, short: it was a disaster. Dad paid the nice lady the sitting fee and left. So, Dad decided he was going to take our pics at home. Well, he should know us better than that. He kept arranging and rearranging me and Gracie “just so”, and we did anything but sit still. He tried us this way and that way. Dad face started turning redder and redder. He told Mom, “You do realize they’re incorrigible.” Mom said, “Let me try”, and silently stalked us around the house like some crazy paparazzi for the next 30 minutes. Still, no go. So, just like Gracie and I hoped all along: they gave up. They put the camera down and went and put on their jammies. I knew I had WON. But then, just I was starting to chill and let my guard down, Dad said, “Go give Momma a hug, Murphy.” I can never resist ‘hugging’ my Mom, especially when she is wearing her flannels. So, I did. And, that’s when he picked up that nasty Nikon and caught me! Mom caught Gracie later when she least suspected it. Mom said the two pics just didn’t look right on the same card, so, we have separate cards this year. I think I’ll cooperate next year. Even though Gracie is just a Lab, I think she makes a great honorary Cairn. HAPPY HOLIDAYS, EVERYONE!!!! Love, Murphy and Gracie

Dempsy's Mom Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 All I want for Christmas is to join in on the flash zoomies at the mall. I can't think of what they call it when all the people start singing and stand up in various spots ... Cairns have flash zoomies. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Heck, Murphy, that sounds like a lot more fun than just having your picture taken! I wish I could have been there to zoom right along with you. Buffy
TazTalk Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Incorrigible ~ yep that is a very appropriate word for Cairns at times. LOL. Sounds like a scene out of Marley & Me.

BetsyNoodle Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 We adopted Murphy from Miniature Schnauzer Rescue in Houston in 2008. He had been taken to the city pound after being shuffled between at least two owners. We aren't sure exactly why he landed in the pound, but we do know his last owners told the staff that it was "okay" to euthanize him. He was only two years old at the time. We refer to him as our "Cairn Toddler" because of his antics, curiosity, and stubborness. But, he is one of the most loving dogs I have ever known. I guess one of his previous owners taught him to "hug" by standing between one's calves. He does this on command, but most of the time, he does it spontaneously. We are just so happy that we found him!!
