KShep Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Look at this article I found, via Wikipedia! http://allanellenberger.com/book-flm-news/toto-finds-a-home-at-hollywood-forever/ This comes after seeing Terry in "The Women" and wanting to verify that it was her. I love this!
Dempsy's Mom Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Very sweet. Thanks for sharing. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 I had no idea they did this. Thanks very much for including the link! Have you read "I, Toto" - Toto's autobiography? It's wonderful.
Sam I Am Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Very sweet... it would have been especially precious if they could have reburied her where her monument stands. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
BetsyNoodle Posted December 2, 2011 Posted December 2, 2011 Toto (Terry) is the reason I fell in love with Cairns. It is so nice to know that all of us who loved her have a special place we can go to pay tribute to her. She was one mighty special Cairn!
Carolinasmom Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 Wow! How neat that they did this! Thanks for posting it!
LizzieP Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 It all started with an idea and a Facebook page. Ahhhh, the power of Facebook.... https://www.facebook.com/pages/Toto-Canine-Movie-Star-Memorial-Marker/122059101185330?sk=wall There's additional information and some great pictures. Great thread! Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in. - Mark Twain
_whits_ Posted December 3, 2011 Posted December 3, 2011 I am ashamed to say that I didn't know Toto was a Cairn prior to this year. I was born in the 80s, so it wasn't really popular then, but I really should have known better. I spent the past couple of years researching dogs to decide which breeds I might want to adopt. I grew up with Jack Russells and adored them, but they shed too much for allergies in my family. When I stumbled upon Cairns earlier this year I'd never even heard of the breed. But I spent about four months doing research and research and more research before I decided they were the dog for me. Ever since Addie came home in July I'm convinced they're the only dog I'll ever have. Now that I have Addie though, just about everyone who meets her says "Oh! A Toto dog!" making me feel even sillier I didn't have a clue myself until recently. One question though: How on EARTH did they train her so beautifully!?!?! My little Addie is a mischief maker and as much work as I put into her training, half the time I still can't get her to do anything. Let alone act in a motion picture. "as far as i am concerned cairns are the original spirit from which all terriers spring, and all terriers are cairns very deep down inside." pkcrossley

If no one else has recommended it, you should pick up a little book written to honor Terry the Cairn Terrier, "I Toto". She was actually given up as untrainable by her original humans! She went on to make mucho movies. Thanks for this subject. I Love it! Max and Nelly

Lei-Quinn Posted December 5, 2011 Posted December 5, 2011 I recently bought "I Toto" but have not been able to read it yet. For some reason I tear up every time I even look at the book. This is going to make it very hard to read. Hopefully I will overcome my urge to cry and be able to enjoy this lovely book about a lovely dog.
