Idaho Cairns Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 ...the only male in the house doesn't mean I am being manipulated, right? Sometimes I get the feeling that a hormonal fire storm is raging in the room and is about to sweep me up but just because I get strange urges to turn around and toss the dogs a treat or take the wife out to dinner doesn't mean that I am giving in to some power I don't understand, right? Nah, cause when I do turn around, they all look so sweet and placid! Just some unreasonable paranoia on my part I suppose--male insecurity.
Kathryn Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Just saying: everything looks perfectly normal to me.

KShep Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Nah, cause when I do turn around, they all look so sweet and placid! Except for the glowing eyes!
Tuesday Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Girls rule, boys drool! Great picture Idaho! Love the picture!!!
pkcrossley Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 you're holding your own. just don't toss the wife a treat and take the dogs out to dinner. then we'll wonder...
Hawkeye Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 That's great!! The eyes are a little spooky thou... Idaho...I feel for you as I am the only female in a house of males.

hheldorfer Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Face it - you're outnumbered and probably outwitted. Give the furry ones a treat, stay on your wife's good side and tread carefully.
TazTalk Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Yeah, you are being played for sure. Looks like you have 2 certified cuddlers there
Meggie Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 The girls on their throne! The glowing eyes indicate you maybe be living with your very own, private alien overlords. Off topic: what is that cool looking brass object in the back? Not the scale. The other one. Is it a telescope? (I'm a background noticer!)
Lynn in TN Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 I use to be the only female with three males in the house, but now that we have Kelly I feel like we are even. hehehe Great picture and I love their matching eyes. Gave me a much needed laugh. Thanks a lot!

Off topic: what is that cool looking brass object in the back? Not the scale. The other one. Is it a telescope? (I'm a background noticer!) That is one of the coolest Kaleidoscopes you've ever seen! It looks and works like a telescope except at the barrel end you can see two wheels that have glass and brass objects embedded which, when spun gives you a zillion different patterns. It was made in Jackson, Wyoming and I have owned it for years--entertained a bunch of grandkids with it--nothing like a kaleidoscope (or a Cairn) to keep a kid busy. And yes, these three have a definite "power" over me and now we know how they do it!

It's beautiful on so many levels! Also mighty fine looking sorority you have

It's beautiful on so many levels! Also mighty fine looking sorority you have I obviously enjoy and appreciate my "sorority" a bunch Meggie. That kaleidoscope was made by a fairly well known artist by the name of Corki Weeks. I purchased it many, many years ago-- 1987 in a Jackson Hole, Wyoming--at the "Pink Garter" a store that is, as far as I know still in business. I think there are a lot of her scopes available here and there. Enjoy--they are wonderful things.
Dempsy's Mom Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Ditto on all the comments, but my question - Does the queen know that you posted this picture? I am sure the little princesses are used to their photo shoots. Looks like a great life - total bliss, comfort and contentment. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Idaho Cairns Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 My "Queen" upon seeing a copy of the picture after I posted it here was concerned about the fact that she was caught "lounging" around with the girls. Like so many women, too many women, she worries about the fact that she takes time to rest and relax with her dogs! There was probably a dirty dish on the counter, a dust mote not vacuumed, a ripple in the bedspread not smoothed so laying about was a guilty pleasure not to be indulged in. As you know, men rarely have that problem. I keep trying to reassure her than "laying down with dogs" is entirely appropriate behavior for any human of any gender--especially those lucky enough to have Cairns.

I feel guilty for indulging in a little quiet time when I could be doing something more constructive. Women are so hard on themselves sometimes. Pretty funny when "some" husbands (not naming any names) will waste an entire Saturday on a video game and the biggest decision he will make will be whether or not to put on pants!!

OK I am so guilty on this one. Why do we do this? I can have the flu running a temp. of 103 degrees body aches the works and still I feel guilty for laying for even a few minutes. I feel guilty being on this site even. KShep your DH and my DH would get along great. He also can spend a whole day playing a video game. LOL
bradl Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 . He also can spend a whole day playing a video game. That's ridiculous. I would never do that. I'd take a break for a nap. Idaho Cairns Posted November 18, 2011 Author Posted November 18, 2011 I'll go one better! I'll actually put the laptop on hibernate, decline the recliner, get up and take two empty coke cans from my chair table out to the recycling bin in the garage! Then, once that chore is laboriously completed, I will sit back down, invite Sammi up to join me, unhibernate the laptop and see if I can advance a level playing Angry Birds!!! Thus you can understand the glowing and glowering eyes around my place!
Dempsy's Mom Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 It just makes some of us feel in control if everything is neat, tidy, in its place - it is a sickness - a burden, that I am afraid our little cairn friends carry on their shoulders as well. (Spaz attacks when something is moved.) This is the first year in my life that I have taken naps and you know what.... I enjoy the heck out of them and I have mentioned it before here - my favorite naps is with Demps. I absolutely loved the photo - please don't feel guilty. Hubby must of been admiring you three to take it. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
tomatosandwich Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 What a hoot! Those glowing eyes might be hypnotic, you know: "Look into our eyes. On the count of 3 you will serve our every whim...wait, you already do that."
