Meggie Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 First a few shots of Hub I snapped while I had him all to myself...(sorry for indulging the photographer in me) That cow lick kills me! I've mentioned this before but Hubble LOVES cats...more than other dogs, more than my boyfriend or me. If a cat is around he'll outright ditch us!! Well my boyfriend had to go to Texas on business for 2 weeks, leaving me to take Hubble upstate to my Mom's house only a few days after I brought one of my foster kittens (who dodged being put to sleep by hours) up to my Mom's. Lea the kitten, is a 6 month old Russian Blue mix who is feral (feral kittens are my specialty) but Lea (formerly Leo, as the high kill shelter's inept staff can't even sex a kitten correctly) only allows me to interact with her and was deemed unadoptable even after working all of my usual tricks to "turn" her domestic. I had ZERO intention on keeping her but she made me Meet Lea who I've raised since she is 4 or 5 weeks old: She is as smart as she is pretty. I LOVE a semi-feral's temperament. Trickier than a regular cat but interacts on a different level as they end up seeing humans as their equals...if you speak to them, they answer back and have a much wider "vocabulary" of sounds to communicate. After a few shaky days of being together...they were either chasing each other or wrestling and suddenly/finally this started to happen: Nothing more lovely than two rescues bonding! Seems Hubble's other best friend, Princess the pittie has some competition
tomatosandwich Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Oh how I adore that photo of Hubble with the cat! Warms me all over inside and out! Your pictures of Hubble are so lovely! Nice lighting and angles!
Meggie Posted October 25, 2011 Author Posted October 25, 2011 Thank you for the compliments! I use a DSLR camera on traditional camera's manual settings because I was trained using film. Old school meets new school There were many cuter (and prettier from a photography standpoint) moments with the two of them I couldn't shoot because the minute I went to get my camera, Hub woke up and followed me Lea will come live with me and my boyfriend when we bite the bullet and get our own place, and we couldn't have asked for a better dynamic!! We're very grateful it went so well. They are adorable and hysterical to watch!!
josie&holly Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Great photos and love the one of Hubble and cat! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Hawkeye Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Beautiful pics...I love the first one of Hubble and then the one with the two of them cuddling. How sweet!! Hope you get your own place real soon so you can be a complete family
Lynn in TN Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Gorgeous photos. I love them all, but my favorite is of the 2 cuddling. How sweet. I also have trouble getting the best ones, as soon as Kelly sees the camera she comes after it to play.LOL
percy's_girl Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 O...M...G...the picture of the two of them together is absolutely adorable!
Meggie Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Thanks everyone for your sweet words...it is quite touching to see two animals who were nearly killed (or possibly used as basically a sperm donor in Hubble's case) coexisting together so lovingly! I've said since day one: Hubble is the best dog someone who raises orphaned, unwanted or feral kittens could ask for! Gorgeous photos. I love them all, but my favorite is of the 2 cuddling. How sweet. I also have trouble getting the best ones, as soon as Kelly sees the camera she comes after it to play.LOL You have no idea how often I clean wet nose smudges off of my lens! I take photos constantly but can never get really good ones of Hubble because he's forever at my feet. The only reason I got these was using treats and patience! He's so cute I wish he'd let me show people more often!
sanford Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 The photo of Lea is mesmerizing... She's so beautiful... and I'm not even a cat person, (or maybe I am after all! Hmmm...). Don't hesitate to post more pix of Hubble & Lea together. They make a wonderful pair. FEAR THE CAIRN!
Meggie Posted October 26, 2011 Author Posted October 26, 2011 Thank you! She is quite fetching...I often have friends who aren't fans of cats fall for mine I'm seasoned at molding them into lovely little monsters. I know this is a Cairn forum, but I hope no one minds if I sneak this pic in...this is Lea her first day at my house which was also the day she was supposed to be put down At this age she and the other foster kittens were petrified of Hub and he was petrified of them and their teensy tiny hisses They were all a pound or less but he was scrambling to get away from them, the wimp.
Dempsy's Mom Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Hubble is beautiful - great pics. Love the fact that he loves cats/kitties. I can hardly believe that they have bonded that closely. Very special little critters. Thank you so much for sharing. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
