Dempsy's Mom Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Yesterday Demps and I got to check cattle. We took some salt blocks and mineral along. When I move the mineral feeders there usually is a mouse - Dempsy got two mice yesterday - he was very happy and proud. It was a picture perfect autumn day. When we got home I decided to finish stripping an old closet. I have it in the garage (just love seeing the wood come alive) - anyway I tied Demps outside the garage, Digger was lounging on his pillow - Demps was sitting in the sunshine soaking up the rays. ..... and then kitty trots by with a mouse .... I tell you those looks on a cairns face are so priceless - such an astonished dumb founded look ..... "MOM!! Kitty has a mouse!!" Dempsy is immediately on his feet. "Kitty, you get back here with that mouse!" as he pulls at his tie out and barks up a storm. Kitty trots faster with a clever little look on her face. "You're not the only one that can catch a mouse," kitty says. "Dumb dog." It was so cute, I thought I would share. Hope you all are having a wonderful fall. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Liz in PA Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 HA! I can picture that expression! Who ever heard of a cat catching a mouse...REALLY!
Hawkeye Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Demps should have repied...I got TWO, so there!!! Be proud little man your still #1!
pindrop Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Oh I was quickly scanning your post in hopes of a video - but alas...that was not to be. It would only have put on paper what my imagination envisioned already. Poor Demps - being harassed by the cat of all things. Dempsy..not to worry - you are the man and a dapper one too. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
josie&holly Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Lovely story! Demps is champion mouse catcher though! www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Dempsy's Mom Posted October 24, 2011 Author Posted October 24, 2011 It would have been adorable to of caught it on tape. You would have to have a recorder in your hand 24/7 to catch all the sweet stuff that happens. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I almost choked on my lunch while reading your post. I can imagine how astounded Dempsy was, seeing a cat (of all things!) trotting by with a mouse. I love your stories - they always have a great main character! (That's a compliment to you, Dempsy.)
ScruffynMag Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I always enjoy your stories and they never fail to make me laugh, thank you! I could just picture that expression on Demps face www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Lynn in TN Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I can see that expression almost as good as if I were there. What a hoot! I can't stop laughing.( If we did hold a video camera 24/7 they wouldn't do anything cute.) LOL
lindasue Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 Darn cat! We have 2 cats and they also won't share mice when they catch them... Linda & Pegi
Tuesday Posted October 24, 2011 Posted October 24, 2011 I was just wondering the other day if Dempsy catches mice on the farm...guess you read my mind!
percy's_girl Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Dempsy, your stories always make me smile
Sam I Am Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Dempsy's mum you should start a blog and call it "Tales from the Farm". I love all the stories Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
Ivy & Lucy's Mom Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Great story!!! I can just imagine the look...
