Jeff N Oscar Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I've been working on Jeff's coat and feeling pretty good about hand stipping it. I am going slow, a little each time.. mostly working his face, and doing some of his body. I wanted to start doing the same to Oscar, but I gave in and took him back to the groomer he had before we adopted him and I got him clippered .... now I have to see if the next time it grows back in, late winter/ early spring if I put the effort into his coat or send him back to the groomer again. I am not sure how I feel, I mean he's so adorable to me no matter what his grooming looks like, but I do feel a little guilty getting him clipped. below is how Oscar looked when we first got him.. a wittle bit heavier than now =D I became a dog person AFTER I got my dog.
tomatosandwich Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Yep, cute not matter how the hair is done!
Lynn in TN Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I agree. CUTE! CUTE! CUTE! I love the pictures!
gt_mustang_gal Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 That picture with his tongue kinda stuck out absolutely cracks me up! It's like he's saying, "if you don't like my hair then "
Malcolm's Dad Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 He looks great. It's like the crew cut of dog grooming. Very manly.
zach84 Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I'm confused, aren't you NOT supposed to get Carin's clipped? I thought it was bad for their coat...
pindrop Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 They are both so adorable clipped or stripped. He was a tad (trying to be polite here) heavy and looks great slimmer. Zach84 - we had Layla clipped for the first time about three months ago and we thought it might ruin her coat but it has come back in just as harsh as before. Mind you this was her first time being clipped so not sure what would happen if we continued. But as Layla is not left outside in the winter, she doesn't really need her harsh coat even if it were to disappear. It is an individual thing stripping or clipping. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
Hawkeye Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 What great pictures, I really like the one with the two of them. Oscar is looking much better with his new and improved body, too.
Idaho Cairns Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 It is all a matter of preference, long coat or short coat, the Cairn is still there and that is what is important. What's with the tongue tip with these Cairns? Bonnie likes to walk around with her little pink antenna sticking out! Cute.
Jeff N Oscar Posted October 11, 2011 Author Posted October 11, 2011 Oscar has been clipped all his life with his previous owners, we just adopted him in May and he's 8 years old.... I was going to try and not clip him, but I am putting that off till a future date. Depending on how his hair responds to stripping in the future I might just keep him clipped. I did get his weight down over the past 5 months and he has some more to go. Thanks for noticing everyone, it's nice to know it's noticable to others too The scale says he lost 1 pound, but it sure looks good on him, I've been feeding him in the early evening and picking the food up afterwards. I think that has made the difference. I became a dog person AFTER I got my dog.
