Dempsy's Mom Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Harvest has been exceptional busy. I haven't had time to keep up with you all. My step son is here to help from AZ and my sister came for a visit this last weekend. Through a surprise birthday party for my other sis. Dempsy is so busy telling everybody off and trying so hard to keep everything in it's place and normal. We have been having a few more accidents cuz' he is yippin' so much and everytime he yips he dribbles. Both Dempsy and I can not wait for harvest to end. It was so cute last night my sister and I were visiting on the couch - she had gotten up, took the globe off the desk and was on the couch with me showing me where she has visited. Dempsy trotted into the room - looked at us on the couch with he globe (got this horrified look on his face) immediately glanced over to where the globe is supposed to be sitting - looked back at us and ripped us a new one. Mary put the globe back and all was well again. It was the cutest thing - he is trying so hard to keep everything normal. God bless our little cairns. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Lynn in TN Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Laughing so hard here my sides are starting to hurt. How cute is that? These little Cairns are so funny and miss nothing. I can move something on the counter a couple of inches and Kelly has a hissy fit. Thank you so much for the laugh. We miss you also. I pray your harvest is great one.
gt_mustang_gal Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Yep, Cracker definitely has an "inventory" of every item in the house. Like Lynn said, if something is moved just a few inches, he will bark at it until it's moved back to where he thinks it's supposed to be. My little investigator.
Malcolm's Dad Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Glad you had a chance to stop in. That little Dempsy, doesn't miss a thing does he. Hope you both survive the harvest.
TazTalk Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Dempsy is the ultimate hall monitor isn't he? Thanks for stopping in to share such a cute story and one we can relate to. You keep it all in line Dempsy! Wish you a successful harvest.
hheldorfer Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I chuckled when I read your post. Thank heavens Dempsy is there to keep everything organized! You should have seen Buffy when I rearranged the furniture in the living room - she was beside herself with worry and kept jumping up on the chairs and couch, probably thinking that they wouldn't be moved if she was sitting on them. And anything new in the house has to pass an extensive sniff test before it's accepted. We miss you, too! Hope the harvest is over soon and you and Dempsy can get back to a normal schedule.
ScruffynMag Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Good old Dempsey, thank you for making me smile this morning with your lovely story. Typical Cairn, they are soooooo funny. www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
pindrop Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Oh yes you have nailed Cairns down so well. I guess they are all the same as Layla will also have a hissy fit should anything be out of line. We just got a new loveseat delivered yesterday and within minutes, it had to be sniffed and sat on. Later in the day, I decided to cover it from the four paws and found she had already buried her bully stick between the cushion and side wall. Yew...can't have that smelly thing on my new seat. We miss you too along with your adventures and can't wait to have harvest over. I wish you and hubby well bringing it in. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
bradl Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Once the endless harvest is over, I suspect we may have a long winter ahead of us. There may yet be plenty of time to huddle around the flickering CairnTalk hearth and hang out. I know I'm looking forward to it. Make sure the generator is fueled and exercised, so that a mere power outage won't get in the way CAIRNTALK: Questions? Hawkeye Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 So nice to hear from you and that you could take the time to share another one of Demp's stories with us. I sure hope Dempsey is giving you a helpful paw with the harvest this year. We look forward to hearing from you once all is done. Tell Dempsey Radar and Bailey were looking for him.
Tuesday Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 Poor Demps! Sounds like he told you and your sister! Hope all is well with you, we definitely miss all your stories. I must say, that we kept little Murphy in some massive upheaval during his first year. We moved from AR to FL. In the first 9 months in FL we lived w/ in-laws for 6 weeks, rental for 6 months, then bought and moved into our house. Murph's used to things being a little crazy, thank goodness. He does try to kill the plastic shark that delivers chlorine into our pool at least 8,000 times a day though....

Glad to know this is a typical Cairn trait. They are so funny. I can just imagine Dempsey thinking "what do you think you are doing?!"
Idaho Cairns Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Here my two diverge from the rest. They are the Queen and Princess of chaos, the more company they have, the better it is for them, the Cable guy this weekend, the Schwan's guy on every other Monday, the Pizza Guy, and any poor soul that enters here are all Hail Fellows Well Met. Toys are meaningless unless strewn about the floor. Crazed grandkids are cherished and joined. It is all part of their rowdy view of life. If they inventory our stuff, I haven't noticed. "They" say that dogs take on the personality traits of their owners--hummmmm.
