tomatosandwich Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hello Everyone. I've been missing in action for a bit. I hope to read and catch up with how everyone has been doing! I see many new faces on the board, too! Divot is doing great! He has fully come into his own, stubborn self now. It's hard to believe he is going to be 10 months old in a couple of weeks! We took him camping with us several times this summer, and he did great! I was worried he might bark at every scent, sound, and hiker passing by, but the really learned quickly the manners we expected from him at campsites. In fact, he was a bit too polite: One night a raccoon was scratching on the side of our tent, and he barely sniffed in the air at it and went back to sleep! I guess all the hiking and swimming had him completely tuckered out! Anyway, I just thought I'd check in since life has been keeping me away. Off to read up now!
Hawkeye Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hi Tomatosandwich nice to see you back here. Sounds like you had a nice summer with Divot and camping adventures. It's hard to believe he will be 10 months.
hheldorfer Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Nice to hear from you again. What great times for Divot, going camping with you. Hard to believe he didn't go ballistic on the raccoon though - very un-Cairnlike! Give the little gentleman a scritch from me.
Idaho Cairns Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Cairns are great campers! I think they are vastly underrated as good, knockabout, tough little camp dogs. We just got back from another week in the Mountains of Utah and our girls had a blast, even with the cockle burrs and stick tights. Those cold mountain streams, clear as a bell were well used and all the various critters happened upon challenged. We did see a massive coyote just outside the campground which convinced us that "off leash" wasn't an option--even tho they had gone three days without tether! Had some coons at night and a mysterious "meowing" during the evening one night--feral cat? All went well with the four of us snuggled up in bed at dark with the temps falling into the mid-30's--we needed each other to stay warm. Cairns simply are the best camping dogs--you should all try it.
Lynn in TN Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Great to have you back, but where are the pictures of our little stubborn Divot?? I can't believe he is 10 months old! How time flies. I am glad he was so well behaved while camping, and you all had a good time. Really good to hear from you.
pindrop Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 Hey Tomatosandwich So glad you found a few moments to check in and let us know how Divot is doing. Sounds like you guys had a great summer and nothing better than a Cairn and camping. Ten months already - heck where has the time gone. He is turning out to be a great little guy and we're so happy to hear that he is well and having a wonderful time. If you have time, a picture would be great. Be well. Malcolm's Dad Posted October 1, 2011 Posted October 1, 2011 Wow 10 months old and such a little gentleman. Good boy Divot!
tomatosandwich Posted October 3, 2011 Author Posted October 3, 2011 Thanks for the warm words, everyone. Yes, I need more recent pictures! I'm just terrible at remembering to download the camera.
