pkcrossley Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 dog surfing championships in los angeles...
Sam I Am Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Sure looks like a Cairn to me. I always wonder if these stunts are really enjoyed by dogs and other animals. Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
kjwarnold Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I have a feeling that Packy would love to do this. He likes to float on the lake, swim and he likes riding the SeaDoo, so it seems like he'd like this, too. He's been on a kneeboard behind the SeaDoo going slowly. Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney
Dempsy's Mom Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Very Cool Cairn. Love the pic. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 It sure looks like a Cairn and has Cairn attitude. Wish I could see the video.
Hawkeye Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Sure looks like a cairn or possibly a westie. Hard to tell the dog is white or wheaten being all wet.
pindrop Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Found this web site on a Cairn Terrier surfer http://www.socalsurfdogs.com/jack.html Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
Hawkeye Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Great investigative work Pindrop! It is all Cairn.
pkcrossley Posted September 26, 2011 Author Posted September 26, 2011 yes, that's the chap. surfer dude. probably dropped out of medical school. parents tearing hair out.
hheldorfer Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 I nominate Pindrop for Cairn Forum Detective of the Year. Good job!
TazTalk Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Totally rad dude. Hang ten. Surfs up. After reading this, I feel like an underachiever. Taz
Lynn in TN Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Totally rad dude. Hang ten. Surfs up. After reading this, I feel like an underachiever. Taz Me too! how cute a Surfin Cairn makes me want to listen to Jan&Dean or the Beach Boys.
sanford Posted September 26, 2011 Posted September 26, 2011 Found this web site on a Cairn Terrier surfer http://www.socalsurfdogs.com/jack.html Duuude! That site shows lessons for teaching your cairn to surf!!! (If only I were 19 again). FEAR THE CAIRN!
MegsMom Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 OK--I can tell you it's not a cairn. It's a westie, named Joey. Here's the website snapshots your pic was taken from: http://framework.latimes.com/2011/09/25/sit-stay-surf-surfing-dogs-in-huntington-beach/#/8 Your posted pic is #7, #2,10 & 13 is also of Joey--don't forget to click 'show captions' below the pics. Sorry, pindrop, you'll have to find us some competition pics of Jack, so we can compare 'styles'
KShep Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 He definitely has that "drowned rat" cairn look. They look so funny when they get wet!
sanford Posted September 27, 2011 Posted September 27, 2011 "please tell me this is not a cairn" pkcrossley... I hate to tell you - it's not a cairn! It's the next best thing... a Westie! Here's another great shot: FEAR THE CAIRN!
pkcrossley Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 joey is cute! but he's a different dude. jack the surfer dude is brindle cairn, with black ears and muzzle, markings which i note are exactly the same as redmon's. much as i'd like to think that only west's waste time on this, i'm afraid jack is an unmistakable cairn.
pkcrossley Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 well, now i'm in two minds. the pictures of jack don't show his life vest, except as yellow. joey wears a red one, like in the original photo. wet as drowned rats, they do look alike. hm. the point seems to be that both cairns and westie's are wasting their great minds on this. this must stop.
pkcrossley Posted September 27, 2011 Author Posted September 27, 2011 yes, the news captions on the expanded site definitely say that is joey. look, surfing should be restricted to the dogs below. the rest should go back to medical school.
Sam I Am Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 Is it just me, because I see a bunch of stressed out dogs? Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
pkcrossley Posted September 28, 2011 Author Posted September 28, 2011 bulldogs and border collies always look a bit stressed out, so hard to tell. but i think there is a reason the terriers look a bit more willing and happy than some of the others. 1) unlike command dogs who will always go along with what the human says no matter how much they dread it or doubt it, terriers can just say no. so, a terrier on a surfboard is probably a willing participant. 2) they are playing hookey from medical school
Sam I Am Posted September 28, 2011 Posted September 28, 2011 I hope you are right PK... I always doubt the wisdom of the uprights when it comes to entertaining themselves at the expense of the animal involved. Dont want to open a can of worms but the cIrcus being one of them Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
darkpantherbabe Posted September 30, 2011 Posted September 30, 2011 looks like a wheaten colored cairn! save a life! Adopt!
