KShep Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Yesterday morning I had a root canal, and spent the whole day on the couch and in bed being lazy, watching movies, and sleeping. (Not that any of that was necessary, the procedure itself was painless and I have had very little pain since then) During this time, I had two CRAZY Cairn dreams! If anyone in the world would possibly find these intriguing, I'm guessing its one of you guys, if not, I'm terribly sorry for wasting your time Dream #1 My mother is driving a go cart down the street where she lives like a crazy person. She ends up hitting a gorgeous, dark brindle, male Cairn. He has broken his leg and the bone is protruding through his skin. So, I carry him on foot 2 miles to the vet's office. Dream #2 Kenneth, Ripley, and I are in Florida with extended family in a condo on the beach. The last to arrive is my brother and his wife and we are supposed to be meeting them for dinner. I then ask Kenneth to accompany me and Ripley for a walk on the beach before dinner. He refuses, and gives me some really dumb excuse. So, I'm a little annoyed and go back into the bedroom to retrieve Ripley. To my surprise, our bedroom is full of dogs and children under the age of 2! I'm really upset at this point because no one is supervising them and I really need to walk Ripley. Finally, I find an adult who agrees to watch them all while I'm gone. So I search for Ripley among the chaos and find her laying down beside two dogs. I begin to pick her up (at this point, Ripley looks very cartoonish like the wolf in Little Red Riding hood.) The two dogs beside her attack me, jumping on my back, and, not biting, but putting their teeth on me. I yell for help but no one comes. When I finally break free I run to find Kenneth and there he is just outside the room SHOTGUNNING A BOTTLE OF WHISKEY! At this point, I'm more than a little angry! I storm back into the bedroom, fit Ripley with her leash and harness (strangely, Ripley and I are the only two in the room now). I must have been really tired from all the commotion. So, I tie Ripley to the foot of the bed and take a five-minute nap. When I wake up, Ripley's leash and harness are empty! NO RIPLEY! Not only that but the whole condo is empty and dark. I can hear Ripley barking outside, and I'm about to go out and look for her but I can't find anything appropriate to wear for dog catching! Finally, I go outside and run into some friends who are willing to help me look. We find her very quickly running up and down the beach (looking like herself again). I'm happy, Kenneth's happy, and the three of us walk back to the condo. On the walk home, I look down in my arms and realize that I'm not carrying Ripley, but a giant rutebaga. I pretend not to notice And to answer your question, no....I do not take any illegal substances!

sanford Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Recovery Room Psychosis? Seriously, some dental procedures can take more of a physical toll on the body than we are willing or able to realize. Combined with anxiety and/or meds, anesthesia, post-surgical psychosis might result. But hey, I'm no doctor, so disregard this diagnosis! FEAR THE CAIRN!

KShep Posted September 23, 2011 Author Posted September 23, 2011 Recovery Room Psychosis? Seriously, some dental procedures can take more of a physical toll on the body than we are willing or able to realize. Combined with anxiety and/or meds, anesthesia, post-surgical psychosis might result. But hey, I'm no doctor, so disregard this diagnosis! I think you hit it right on the money. I'm never nervous about dental work, but root canals get a bad rep. You always here them saying "about as much fun as a root canal". Even though the fear of the pain was worse than the actual pain itself, the procedure is pretty traumatic to your mouth when you think about it. I didn't take pain meds, just advil and they gave me more novocaine than ever. I slept poorly the night before, and I started shaking in the dentist's chair from nerves. I had myself all worked up for nothing! Oh well, makes for interesting dreams whatever it was!
gt_mustang_gal Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Oh my. I did a study on the interpretation of dreams when I was majoring in Psychology in college. I'm not even sure where to start with yours! A rutabaga Cairn. Thank you for sharing your dreams...I really needed a laugh today. And hopefully you're feeling back to normal again!
Idaho Cairns Posted September 23, 2011 Posted September 23, 2011 Humm, that Florida, walk on the beach, dogs on your back with their teeth bared, running around half naked, Cairn into rutabaga thing was a dream??? Gee, seems like that happens to me all the time!
