darkpantherbabe Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Woof! Sadie here. I am puzzled over my 2 legged mommy. She attaches this thingy to my lovely hot pink necklace and it restricts how far away I can go from her. I saw a wonderful squirrell this morning on our walk but I got halted by this rope thingy attached to my necklace and when the squirrell ran away, i couldnt chase it. What is up with that? O, also, She has this "lay" rule in the car and due to me being so active and bouncing back and forth, that rope thingy, the black part she holds, gets looped through whatever that is that goes across herself. That is sooo not fair. She wont have the windows completely down because she says she's afraid i'll jump out when we are stopped if i see a "rodent" .. What is a Rodent anyways? She wont even lick the "baby's" face or hands, what is up with that too? I never had a fry before, but awhile ago, she tossed me this long soft thing and boy was it good. She taught me the word "fry" and i know it goes with that object. She says it has no salt on it and wont let me have no more then 3 or 4 and its only once a week. I am a fast learner you see. I am now hooked on the things and perk up when i smell 'em in a bag. But she wont give me any unless its on "the" day she says. I am only allowed to have "fry" one day a week. Which is so not fair in my eyes as they are sooo yummy.... She keeps eyeballing a thingy with a doggy thats attached to a seat, and looking at other thingys that the picture has the rope thingy attached to and is around the doggy's chest 'n behind the legs. Please help me in keeping those last thingy's away from me. Help me convience my mommy to not buy them. save a life! Adopt!
Dempsy's Mom Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Sadie, mom loves you so much she wants you to be safe, but you can earn a little more freedom if you show her how good you are at listening to her. I know, like that's going to happen. So Sadie you are stuck, but it will get better as you age. Mom, you will have to meet Sadie half way ... maybe a little dog park freedom. Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Hawkeye Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Yo Sadie - Radar here! Yeah I hear you...you must have seen my dilemma with the car problems. Sorry if your mom read that one, hopefully she won't get ideas. I think they stay up at night trying to dream up new ways to attach stuff to us. I have had a fry thingy a couple of times, but you're right not very often. Me and the Bails go bonkers over the pizza crust...mmmmm.
MegsMom Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 ((this is Robyn, Sadie's mommy, that thingy she backed out of was a harness, and the thingy with the dog on a carseat is a doggy seatbelt)) I'd definitely recommend a car harness/seatbelt. I travelled with a dog for 14yrs over 200K miles, initially without crating/carseat anchor (young & dumb) then learned the joys of "anchoring the dog". And once a year, for a while, I'd do the 'oh, it's short errand, nothing will happen' let me tell you, it can and it did everytime I said that--thankfully she was never actually hurt, but scared me good a couple of times. And I finally learned--nobody rides in a vehicle with me w/o a tie-down of some sort! Nobody's been hurt, I haven't had a scare since then, and I know exactly where each is and what they're doing:) I keep the tie-downs short enough that if they do go off the seat, they're 'dangling' short enough, they can use their hind legs to help boost 'em back up. The Guardian Gear (or Cruising Companion) seatbelts are nice, both straps clip, on the "old style" so no 'over-the-head' routine and if you order off ebay, most of those come with the adjustable tie-down strap that hooks into your seatbelt receptacle. You can also get colors, my girl just got another pink one. I prefer the "old style" type that look like a plain wide-strap harness rather than the new style, some are still on ebay. Cairns take an "S/M" size, unless they're under 11#, then maybe an XS; over 18# might need an "M/L". You can also order the seatbelt anchor straps separately off ebay, too. Many are overseas, but check carefully and you can get a great deal, even with paying postage. You can use those to clip to any style harness that has a 'back loop'.
finncaraid Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 What's a fry?? Mum said they're tates & she won't let me have one. She's weird. You got a cool mum. Can I come to your house??? I got a car seat a little while ago. It lifts me up so I can see out the window. Mum says I'm a good boy 'cause I sit still in it. I can get comfy for a nap in it too. I like to stare at the people in other moving thingys when we stop. Today, I saw a guy in a big moving thingy & he laughed at me 'cause I kept starin. Sometimes I see other dogs. We use mental tepathi to talk, or so mum says. I love my car seat!!!!!~~~~~~~~~~~FINN
darkpantherbabe Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Aarf! Sadie here again. Obiviously she doesn't understand me. I started telling a english bulldog to go away and leave my territory alone and she told me to "quiet" ... whatever that means.... he was trying to upsurp my territory from me. Him and the min pin both. I dont see why i cant stand at the screen door and tell them to leave my territory alone, now i gotta remark everything, which mommy wont be happy about because it extends our walks we do. She has me on a leash that lets me go far from her but then i run out of room and look back at her like "why". We went to a new doggy park today, and boy did i have fun. I made 5 new friends today. 1 cocker spaniel, 1 cairn(who i must say is very old but she kept up with me), 1 boston, and 2 mini poodles. At least thats what mommy said the breeds were... their names are Cory, Shane, Turbo, Gabby 'n Peaches. I asked Turbo why he was named that, and he started running away from me, and boy is he fast. We all had a blast today. Mommy was real pleased. Cory, the old cairn, turns out she's 14yrs old and was recently adopted. She told me her prior owners moved and couldn't take her with, but she really likes her new mommy. Gabby 'n Peaches, the 2 mini poodles, were quite nice. You know how you hear about poodles being stuck ups and prissy, well these 2, werent. Shane was a typical puppy, he was black 'n white, mommy said he's a boston. I over-heard mommy telling cory's new mommy about this site, so no idea if she'll join or not. oooo is that dinner i smell??? mommy is changing my food once again i think for it smells different... I didnt like the other food at all.... But this new food smells delicious... Mommy said its Kibbles 'n Bits. Its a great big huge bag, She hopes it'll last awhile. And Radar, I know its not fair. But she says its not healthy for me to have too many. I heard her telling grandma to not give me any if they have salt on them... What is salt? Finn, Tell ya mommy to give you a unsalted one. My mommy blows on them so that they are luke-warm. save a life! Adopt!
darkpantherbabe Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 This is Sadie's Mommy. Kristin, my oldest is fighting with Sadie over changing her name. She wants to rename her to Stacey... But Sadie wont come to her, but does when called Sadie. lol. I think Sadie is winning the battle on that one. hehe. I only give her 3 to 4 french fries once a week at the most and thats if i have the spare money to buy some from work. She loves the french fries from my work(Long John Silvers). On the Seatbelt Harness.... Thank you for telling me the size to buy.... At the moment, I just put the handle part of the extendable leash through the seatbelt latch and i just click it in place and then loosen it up some on the leash itself and lock it in place. At the moment, Want a safer route for her. She went to a doggy park earlier today and loved it. I am trying to get a Doggy PlayGroup started... But if it doesn't take off then its no big deal cause i'm moving around jan to march next year back to my home town. I give Sadie some COOKED(FULLY!) Chicken as long as its unseasoned and no skin.... I did that so that she WOULD eat, she went on a "diet" by not eating the food i had bought for her. Hoping she likes Kibbles 'n Bits. Its a 26pound bag with a zipper close top. O well.... I donated the other bag of food to a lady who just moved and was short on cash and little to no food for her doggies. save a life! Adopt!
