pindrop Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I can't believe it's already one year since Layla's birth. I remember joining this forum about that time knowing I was going to be owned by a Cairn and kinda figured I'd be turning to everyone here for any and all help and advice on raising this little imp. So...for her birthday, we have bought her two bully sticks (my..how they do stink) along with two new stuffed toys (a green lamb and a brown bunny with floppy ears and a cotton bunny tail). At first, she was not too keen on the bully stick but since last night, she is now walking around with it trying to find a good hiding spot (and not on our bed beneath the pillows). Except for eating the mouse a week ago, she has been a real treasure and I have to thank you all for your friendship and help while going thru all the various phases of her first year. Idaho Cairns Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I have enjoyed being part of Layla's first year, the next best thing to having a Cairn puppy is sharing someone's puppy.
Dempsy's Mom Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Happy Birthday little princess. I to remember when mom brought you home and all the anticipation she had before bringing you home. And then there were all the bragging pics on how adorable little Layla was - she was so proud of her little girl. I am a little set back that we don't have a 1st year pic? Is mom taking you for granted already little Layla? I am sure not, she is just to busy buying you birthday gifts. Enjoy all your birthday treats and toys. Find a really good hiding place for that bully stick ! Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
hheldorfer Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 I can't believe you're already a whole year old, Layla. It seems like yesterday that your mom was beside herself with the anticipation of your arrival. Tell your mommy to take a birthday pic so we can see the lovely young lady you have become. Have a wonderful birthday filled with treats and toys! Aunt Helene
Islander Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Woof! Gus here. Happy birthday, little Layla. You are one gorgeous female and I'd love to chase squirrels with you some day.....Better hide that bully stick really well so the uprights don't take it away from you. I think a basket full of clean laundry would be the perfect place!

pindrop Posted September 15, 2011 Author Posted September 15, 2011 I'd like to thank everyone for all their well wishes and licks. I can't believe I didn't have a year old picture to post. We are getting lax in our parental duties. I'll get hubby (Oldfox) to take a few and post them for everyone to see how she has grown and matured. I have noticed that what started out in her puppy stage with a dark muzzle and then got lighter is now returning to lots of dark hairs reappearing in that area. One of the things I love about puppies is their dark muzzle along with their coal-black eyes. Right now she is prancing around with that bully stick hanging out of her mouth and so proud as it lays it at our feet (groan). I will definitely have to take Hawkeye's suggestions and buy future ones that are non-scented. Husband and dog missing ...25 cents reward for dog
