Hawkeye Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Woof, hey it’s Radar here. I have to tell you what my uprights have done now. They say I have some issues when they put me in that car thingy. I don’t think so but they say I get out of control. All I do is ask them a couple of questions; HEY.....why do I have to be in a crate....where we going.....excuse me I can’t see out the window.....Where we going....Are we there yet...hey I can’t see.....WHERE WE GOING.....can I have some coffee TOO.....Are we there yet.....WHERE ARE WE GOING…..Walk I want to go for WALK….HEY!!!! WHERE ARE WE GOING!!!!!! Oh, excuse me just talking about it... Anyway, mommy got this package the other day and she calls me “Waaaadaaarr look what I bought for you. Oh boy, now I’m thinking bully sticks, yes! There she is holding this thing – not a bully stick – and now she’s trying to put it on my back and before you know it she pulling this around my front, under my belly, over my back…poof!!! I look like a stuffed sausage with fur coming out each side! She said it’s a Thundershirt and will make me feel good all over. I think it’s a straight jacket! So I showed her, I started squirming and biting at the front of it and flopped on the floor rolling around, boy it was so embarrassing! She mumbled something about having her work cut out for her and daddy just said “sorry Radar” Oh yeah forgot to mention during all of this Bailey was sitting in the corner laughing his darn fool head off. Thanks bro!
josie&holly Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Oh dear Radar - to add insult to injury the thing seems to have lost you a leg! sorry must not laugh my mum may get me one too............ hope it helps in car thingy though love Holly www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Malcolm's Dad Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Woof! Malcolm here. Yikes that looks like that cuff they take your blood pressure with. I've heard about those thundershirts. These uprights have to make everything so complicated. All you have to do is bark at the thunder and it goes away.
TazTalk Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 that is way wrong Wadar. Don't these uprights have better things to do? But maybe if you wear it you will find out where you're going!!
KShep Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I think you look really cute radar.. Maybe it will grow on you?
ScruffynMag Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 I think you look ok Radar but I'd squirm and cause a nuisance if I had to wear it grrrrrrrrrrrrr! . I think my uprights have got the idea that I should have one for when the fireworks and thunder happen.................. I'll show em if they do get me one pffftttt www.cairnterriertalk.co.uk
Lynn in TN Posted September 11, 2011 Posted September 11, 2011 Oh Radar you look so cute. The color goes great with your fur.

percy's_girl Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Arf! Percy here...my mom got me one of those stupid shirts too. She calls it my magic shirt. I don't know what that means, but I know as soon as she puts it on me I stand real still and pretend like I can't move so she'll take it off. So far that hasn't worked...she just leaves it on me and says I look like a stuffed sausage, too. So then I lay down right next to her and look all pitiful hoping she'll take it off. Nope! She says we have to wait for the storm to pass. What is she talking about?? I never hear any scary storms when she puts that shirt on me. I think she's losing her mind! If I were you I'd steal one of Bailey's toys for laughing at you! -P
hheldorfer Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Thundershirts? Pshaw! We don't need no stinkin' Thundershirts! We're Cairns and we'll take care of ourselves, thank you very much! And one more thing: You uprights don't like thunderstorms and long car rides either, so why don't you get some silly looking, tight-fitting shirts for yourselves? What's that? Sorry, gotta go. I hear the treat cabinet being opened in the kitchen. Buffy
finncaraid Posted September 12, 2011 Posted September 12, 2011 Sorry, dude, but you look like you have CLOTHES on!!! Whassup wif dat??? Know it's a drag but sometimes these families have some weird ideas, especially the lady people. Your mum didn't say "ewew, you look so handsome" did she? Hope not-- that means trouble. Find a reflectin' place & try out sad, depressed looks. That might work. If not, make it fun. You could go roll in wild animal poo & not get stinky (then you'd have to get a bath). Or you could move furniture around trying to get it off. That sometimes makes them give up. Get Bailey to help you chew holes in it real fast. Maybe he'll get in trouble too, the traitor. Just keep tryin' & maybe your mum will decide to give you a break. Don't know why families are so fussy about questions. My mum got me a car booster seat 'cause she was freakin' out at my curiousness. It's way cool-- I get to watch truck drivers eatin (they're mean, they never share) & lil kids wave at me. Sometimes I even see BIGS & they look as miserable as me 'cause we can't talk, sniff & look around. The only thing is "now you need to behave Finn or you have to ride in the crate". A guy can't have no fun. Good thing I get treats sometimes. Hang in there dude- you'll get it off!-----------------Your bud, Finn

She said I almost hung myself trying to get out of it. My favorite part of car rides is "chase the passer-bys". We zoom by these cars and I go...swish and body slam the back seat...hehehe...it's so much fun!! Percy_girl - I like your thinking!! Pretend! Hehehe...they can't out smart us cairns!! Yeah and Bailey, I don't know what's up with him? That idea of stealing his toys, can't cos he has NONE! They're all MINE!!!!

Hawkeye Posted September 12, 2011 Author Posted September 12, 2011 Hi there, Radar's mom here. I think I should jump in here and let everyone know that Radar is doing well with his new ‘outfit’ so far. He’s actually very curious about his Thundershirt and to my surprise wanted it on yesterday. I had it on the desk and Radar kept standing on his hind legs showing interest in it so I put it on the floor and let him check it out more. Since he had been pretty calm I decided to put it on him and he settled right down and slept near me while I was doing some computer work. I am going very slowly with the introductions so not to set myself up for failure. Plus he gets his favorite treats! Once he has the idea that this is worn during quite time, I will then bring him out in the garage and work with the car. We'll keep you posted!
Dempsy's Mom Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Radar, Demps here, think of it as a muscle shirt. ..... (but I have to tell you man, my first thought is what are you? A cairn or a weany dog?) Elsie, Max, Meeko & Lori
Sam I Am Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Oh good grief Radar.... do you have to post these sort of things . My mum will get some silly notion in her head and make me wear one of those sausage casing things. I am scared of thunder but when my mum ties me with a leash to her wrist I get un scared... kind of weird I know Until one has loved an animal, a part of one's soul remains unawakened. - Anatole France Adventures with Sam &Rosie
darkpantherbabe Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 woof! Sadie here. I feel bad for you Radar. Thankfully, my mummy, hasn't the spare money for one of those thingies. She keeps eye-balling those thingies that come in a package 'n a doggy on a carseat is the picture. I keep hoping she wont buy whatever it is cause i dont think i can free roam the front seat 'n go lay on the passenger floorboard like i do. She tried a stupid thingie that i had to step into and it went behind my legs and over my chest around my neck but i out-smartted her.... I figured out how to back out of it and the size smaller is too small on me, so yah, whatever that thingy was, she doesn't put me in it anymore. ((this is Robyn, Sadie's mommy, that thingy she backed out of was a harness, and the thingy with the dog on a carseat is a doggy seatbelt)) save a life! Adopt!
hheldorfer Posted September 13, 2011 Posted September 13, 2011 Um . . . Radar, you may not be aware of this but your mom says you're starting to LIKE the sausage casing thingy. Now my mom is starting to talk about getting one for me. Ziggy will laugh his fool head off if he sees me wearing one of those contraptions. My reputation will be ruined!
Tuesday Posted September 14, 2011 Posted September 14, 2011 Hawkeye, Will you let me know how this works out for Radar? My little Murphy has recently become very scared of thunder/lightning/and heavy rain. Thanks!!
Hawkeye Posted September 14, 2011 Author Posted September 14, 2011 Tuesday, I will check in once in awhile to give updates. So far I think it's going well, he is getting comfortable having the vest on in the house and took another nap last night with it on. I think tomorrow I will bring him out into the garage and see how he reacts. Like I said earlier I am taking this really slow.
kjwarnold Posted September 16, 2011 Posted September 16, 2011 Dude, you're a Cairn, use your teeth! Might not work while it's on, but you can certainly chew it up when it's off. And when your brother laughs at you, well, that's just an invite to jump him! Your Friend, Packy P.S. Kirby says to just jump on your brother anyway, even if he's not laughing at you. I mean, what are brothers for? Jandy and my Cairns, Kirby & Phinney

Funny thing is he refused to sit in the seat but we now have it in the tv room and he curls up in it to sleep.
