I love family

Dempsy's Mom

I love my family .... but I was sooo happy to see them leave just a few minutes ago. :shy: It started Saturday - my daughter, her new boyfriend - Travis, Ella (9) and Miles (14) - my grandchildren and hound dog - Trevor arrived. We grilled out, had my sister over and her husband - it was a beautiful weekend weather-wise and that evening went well. We went to the state fair - that went well. Where the trouble started was when Ella wanted the stray kitten in her bedroom - which started the hound barking. and barking and barking plus he has allergies and looks horrible, Demps did enjoy him to a point. It was so cute how Dempsy worked so hard at keeping Trevor from taking his stuff. Demps hid his stuff all over, but the hound would find it. Dempsy was very frustrated. And when the hound was not sniffing stuff he was barking. Try talking over a barking hound. Ella just insisted on parading this little kitten around, God bless her. And of course everytime I yelled at Trevor to STOP! It was: "Travis STOP!" For the life of me I could not keep the dog and the new boy friend's names straight - oh, I am sure he was impressed.

Then before they left Ella had the kitten outside and you could see her from the bay window. Hound went nuts, jumped up on the window ledge, scratched the heck out of the wood, Jenny cried and was upset that I would be upset and she was relieved when I did not over react (it had some kitty scratched on it from years ago - oh well, it's just another memory). It just seemed like total choas all weekend. But the kids had fun and we did make some good memories. I let Miles get some driving practice in with the Gator. Demps had alot of action all weekend. Ella just loved playing with the kitten. Jenny and Trevor, oh I mean Travis, pretty much enjoyed themselves. Weather was great.

So now I can vaccume up all the little white hairs that the hound left me. Kill a few of the flies that found their way in through the swinging doors. Pull the bed sheets, so there ready for the next round. Put everything back in place and go back to our schedule. It's good for a person to give up their schedule once in awhile, so you appreciate all of your routines. ...... and what's really funny, is as I make everything "normal" again, I find little things left behind (stuffed animal, eraser, a sock) and I miss them. :(

I'd do the whole weekend over in a heartbeat.

Hilarious. You sound like my poor mother, always entertaining- Always has too much on her plate! But always pulls a "supermom" in the end!

Pindrop feels Dempy's Mom's forehead for potential fever! I hear what you're saying - love to have company and just as happy to see everyone leave so you can get back to "normal."

Sounds like you had a whirlwind of activity and everyone had a good time. The fact is - what makes these times memorable is because they are NOT the norm.

I know exactly what you mean. Love to see them, love to see them go, then miss them terribly. Your daughter will experience the same thing one day.

So Dempsy wasn't able to keep the hound from sniffing out all his toys, eh? That's the problem with hounds, Demps - they have really good sniffers!

Oh yes, I can relate to your feelings too. We just had a family vacation with the kids and grandkids. We do love to see them but love to get back to our own routines. Glad you had a nice weekend.

Oh, I know exactly what you're talking about. Since we live on a lake in a resort area, we've had company almost every weekend this summer. At one point, I had about 4 hour between guest departure and next guest arrival! But it is always fun and about a week after everyone's gone, I'll start thinking it's really boring now! And the dogs really enjoy all the company.
