Hi cairn friends...it's Percy here. So I was just minding my own business and lounging around the house today when my mom said we were going shopping! I love shopping! My favorite part is walking down the food aisles and sampling the stuff they sweep way under the shelves...that's where they hide the good stuff. My mom takes me to two stores when we go shopping and one of them has critters in cages which I just love to look at. I'm pretty sure the uprights can buy the critters, but my mom's never bought me one. But if I stand on my tiptoes I can look at them in their cages! Here's an old picture of me looking at them. Sorry it's a little blurry, but you have to be fast and sneaky when you look at them.

I didn't get to have a good look at the critters today because there were lots of other dogs in the store and I was very excited and making lots of noise. All the uprights in the store were looking at me...I'm sure it's because they've never seen one of us cute cairns before. Mom said I was embarrassing her so we had to leave early. Next time I'll have to remember to be quiet so we can stay longer.

Percy, I enjoyed reading about your shopping adventures. Ripley likes to get the snacks underneath the shelves too! And if she sees a little boy. "Watch out!" She will drag me over and see if this little boy wants to play with her.

How fun for you Percy! I asked mom if she will take me someday and she said she would. I can hardly wait. I love the pick of you on your tippy toes, I will have to work on that. Keep in touch Percy! lov Demps

Mom used to take me to the store but she says I'm banned for making too much noise. Unfair!

I don't get taken to the local pet store anymore because they have boxes of biscuits under the counter. My Mum says it is for her to pick and mix not me! I think that is unfair as they are at my height and great for sampling while she is talking to girl other side of the counter. I am greedy Mum tells me and I am eating their profits whatever that is but it tasty!

Pegi here! I also love to go shopping - lots of good stuff at our level! Last time I swiped a pig's ear when my mom wasn't looking - boy was she mad! She told the women at the register (where there are even more treats!) but the woman laughed and said to enjoy it! There was no way I was giving that up - yummy! My mom was not happy with me and wouldn't let me eat it in the car - she said something about the car being new and not getting greasy stains on the seats....no fun at all!!!

Bailey here, not sure why but mommy & daddy won't take us shopping. I'm thinking it's because of Radar, yeah it's all his fault. Mommy is exhausted whenever they take us in car, mostly because Radar goes spastic in the car. He gets all worked up...whinning and pacing. You mean to say these stores have food at our height? I gotta get there, maybe someone could pick me up the next time you go.

Dude, we love going shopping with Mom & Dad, and our favorite is Petco! I know how to spell that word and I can read the sign when we go by, so they can't get anything by me! My favorite part is the rats and I have perfected my Cairn Screech of Death so everyone knows that I can kill those varmints. I like the fish a lot, too. Kirby's favorite is the birds but he's usually pretty quiet. He likes to stalk them.

We like to walk down the food aisles, too, and always check out under the shelves. We know the secret to the best snacks under there. Over by the treat bar is a good place, too. Oh, and when we check out, I always run behind the counter and sit up for the checker. Sometimes they have nice ones that know what I want (a treat), but sometimes they have dumb ones that don't even pay attention to me. I mean, come on, don't they know that's what those treat bins in the counter are for?

~ Your Friend, Packy (& Kirby)

P.S. I can recognize the Golden Arches and ice cream places, too! They don't get anything by me!

hey percy, i love to shop too! at the dog food and toy store they have bins of treats all at mouth level. i know not to steal them but sometimes i try anyway. sometimes the girls who work there think i'm so cute that they ask my humans if i can have a free treat. haha!

i get to go human store shopping every week in the summer too. on the saturdays, the humans make an outdoor food store at the park and dogs are allowed to come! when i see my humans grab the grocery bags, i go nuts so they won't forget to bring me! we ride in the car to the park, go for a walk for me to get my crazys out (i get real excited there!) then i get to stroll around the human food store in the parking lot. people LOVE me there and i get tons of pets from old humans who live in the retirement building nearby and they all think i am so sweet and cute and i convince them that i'm a super good boy by my best behavior! people always drop food and i clean that place up, although most of the food is yucky vegetables. but one tent sells PEANUT BUTTER and i make extra sure that we stop there to clean the ground. my daddy human things its gross that i lick the pavement, but someone's gotta clean up, right?
