Not too "ruff" for a doggie birthday!!

I had a great day... woke up to mom singing Happy Puppy Birthday to me, honest she was so excited I thought it was treat time. Whenever she gets excited I think it's treat time, but this time it was better than just treat time, it was birthday time! I heard her talking yesteday about making something she called pupcakes, people pancakes, but she must of changed her mind cause I never saw any pupcakes today. What I did see today was the neighborhood, twice, yes two walks for the birthday boy, one at the start my birthday and a nice long one at the end the day. In between there was a trip to the pet store where I got to pick out my own toy. I GOT THREE!!! Mom can not resist buying toys for me, she says "how can you not buy toys for this dog when he loves them so much"... and I do love them. I played with them on the car ride home. I am not usually allowed to ride out of my crate, but mom let me today and I played with my new toys all the way home. A fizbee (that's how mom says frizbee when she is trying to excite me to go find it) I also got a fuzzy wuzzy kong bunny (again that's what mom calls it to excite me, and it works, I just can't help myself but rush to grab it for her and she shakes it for me and I try to get it back, I LOVE THAT WOMAN) Oh and I got a third toy from the end of the aisle cause it caught my attention and mom could not figure out what to leave behind. Starting to see why I LOVE THAT WOMAN???? Ok, ok ride home, very exciting, mom tossed my toys to the back of the wagon and dad drove. Mom kept telling him to watch the road cause she was a bit nervous with me roaming free in the car. We made it home safe!! In the backyard we had a fun game of fizbee, a little fun with catch and then it wat time for dad to cook burgers on the grill. I helped by sniffing the grill to make sure they got good quality beef, and gave it my "paw of approval", figuratively of course cause I am not allowed to touch the grill at all!! With these Cairn strong front legs I could knock the whole thing over, really I could. After our trip to the pet store and 3 new toys I wasn't expecting anything else, but mom pulled the ultimate birthday present out of her hat when she offered me some burger right off the dinner table. HA I knew there was stuff up there, and she always says "NO" when I try to check. I knew my nose was right, mom's a tricker for sure. Oh yeah she did some of her tricks when we played hide and seek today. She throws a ball up the steps, I go scrambling up to fetch it and when I come back down SHE IS GONE!!! I know right away that she is hiding and I go on the hunt. We have such fun playing that game, she is aways so surprised when I find her. ok ok, the day is ending, nice long walk, back to the house and I am done for the day. Tired, happy, lucky and so looking forward to next year, heck I am looking forward to tomorrow when we can do it all over again. Well not the trip to the pet store, but all the rest she pretty much does with me, just maybe not all in the same day.

Oscar was along for the ride, but other than hogging the center spot he pretty much layed low most of the day, as usual... 8 year olds.
