What's a hurricane & where is it?? I was having such fun at the beach & they made us leave 'cause of some bad old cairn named Irene that was coming. Had to be a cairn with that fancy gaelic name. This is me in my new car seat on the way home. I'm faking my best worried look so my family gives me treats. It did get pretty nasty late last night. I really had to go but when I went outside, Irene would howl & blow in my face. But I kept going to the door every 10 minutes to show her I wasn't scared. My da said if I kept it up, he was going to get mum to make me a wetsuit, whatever that is. But it was fun. Every time I went out, when I came in we'd play with a towel. So it wasn't all bad. All Cairns in the northeast-- be careful & don't run away-- Irene is a big meany!!

Sorry you had to miss your fun on beach but glad you are safe and so hope that the others on the East Coast are - just watching BBC news and looks very wet in New York where they are expecting the Hurricane anytime.

You look so sweet with your worried look. Makes me want to hug you. You hang in there and don't let Irene push you around - you keep giving her a piece of your mind. Keep everybody safe - it's up to you.

Finn, that's a good worried look. I was giving that look yesterday, too. The best part about that meanie Irene is that she left all kinds of good leaves laying on the ground for me to smell this morning on my walk. My mom says my grandparents have whole trees laying down in their yard! I sure would like to go give them a sniff. Here's a picture of me keeping and eye on the radar and outside conditions yesterday.

Finn - what a precious look you have. Sitting here in Maine. the rain is lashing in waves across our metal roof (kinda noisy). This is just the beginning as it is just hitting NY at this time - yet the rain has already started in central Maine. It will be getting worst but hopefully we are as prepared as possible. Luckily Layla has already been out early this morning and done her business. Everyone keep safe!

Pegi here in Mass! We are in the middle of it now - didn't really want to go outside this AM but my mean mother forced me out! I'm not going back out there until this ugly rain stops - it's coming down straight, then sideways....and the wind is blowing the trees sideways! When this is over there's going to be lots of leaves in our pool to bark at! The adult uprights are checking for water coming into the basement and tree limbs down, the teenage girl uprights are watching TV, trying to finish their summer reading (not going to happen w/school starting Thursday; God I hate it when they are gone all day, but Mom calls it the most wonderful day of the year) and checking w/friends on Facebook! Right now I'm going to find my favorite chew toy and hang out! Hope all my friend cairns in New England are hanging on OK!!!!

I hope everyone on the East Coast stays safe! Finn you are a doll. I hope you can go back to the beach soon.

Finn you are TOO CUTE! I've been through Rita and Ike. I will have a nervous breakdown if we have another hurricane. They are no fun! You guys be safe.

BTW...My husband came in the room while I was typing this comment, read the first sentence and said "WHO IS THIS FINN?!" Bwahahahaha

Buckley and Gracie did surprisingly well yesterday. Gracie, who hates inclimate weather, did ALL her business outside. I am so proud of her.

Finn, glad you and your family are all ok. Sorry you had to leave the beach but it was the best thing to do. You really are a cutie! Stay safe everyone.

Ruffy is a trooper. Nothing deters him from efficiently going about his "business". During the hurricane, we went out for 2 of his scheduled walks and he was fine and seemed oblivious to the harsh, pelting rain and gusts of wind that threatened to make him airborne. Our immediate area is relatively well protected and we suffered no ill effects, although the park down the street where we walk regularly, lost a number of beautiful old trees.

Irene is continuing to move north into New England. I hope those in her path will be as lucky as Ruffy and I were.

Sorry you lost out on your beach fun, Finn. I'm nowhere near that Irene lady but my uprights keep talking about it. Is she anything like Mr. Tornado? I met him once and I really didn't like him!

Stay dry!

Big winds are very scary Finn :crybaby: ... we are only little dogs and that mean Irene could pick us up and toss us around. We dont get hurry canes in the prairies but we get really scary torn nadoes.. I dont know their names... but I get really upset when the trees start bending and the thunder starts crashing. I hope you get to go to that guy called beach soon.. I have never met him

Bite that Irene for all of us Cairns

this is me looking depressed 'cause we have to leave my most flavorite place. don't i look sad? guess my act wasn't too good-- we still left. i was happy for a little bit today 'cause mum said we might have to go back to check to make sure the place was still there. maybe she thought the big wind would take the house to oz-- i saw that movie & would give that nasty witch lady what for. but mum talked to some peoples & they said it was okay & still there. so now i can't go back till da is off from his work again. but i did find lots of good sticks that bad irene left for me. i don't care-- i still don't like her. all you cairns up north take care!! p.s. why does mum always have to take my picture???? she says it's 'cause i'm her handsome chappy but she says that too when she gets the crummy brush out.

Glad to hear your house is okay! Phewwww!

You look very cute even though you were feeling down. Don't be sad little chappy.

I was worried too, but tried not to show it. I couldn't figure out why my Mom kept carrying things downstairs to the basement, and then she stayed there! I went down to investigate, and there was a big bed down there, with little ones for me 'n Gavin. And the radio kept sayin' somthing about torn Adoughs (don't know who Mr. Aydoughs is, or what he tore).

So I did my best to keep my Mom company and snuggled up to her. But Gavin didn't want to stay, and he went back to his bed in the den. Today, after the sun finally came out, Gavin 'n me completed a thorough inspection of the yard. I'm happy to report that everything is ship shape!

Woof! Malcolm here. I was watching tv with daddy. That nasty Irene went away. Good! She ruined everyone's day. Seems like all is ok, nobody says they are in oz.

Finn I love that look you have on the couch. Good work, I'm going to practice that one. It should work great on daddy. I can see him going to the treat jar already.

Woof! to Redmon. I hope the roads are clear for you and your mommy.

FEAR THE CAIRN!

Posted

Sanford, it looks like a beautiful park for both dogs and humans. So sad that those big, old trees were lost.

Posted

Glad everyone's dogs, homes and families are okay.

Seeing those old trees down is so sad :(

My neighborhood didn't get hit nearly was hard as we anticipated but my family (NY state) got slammed :crybaby:

Hubble was basically on vibrate mode for 2 days...petrified. At 14 months old, this is his first summer not living in a box in a store so all this is new and scary to him, poor thing.

Posted

Finn, I don't think I have ever seen such cute SAD expressions in my life! You are a doll. The main thing is that all our Eastern Cairn friends and their uprights are safe. Parks can be fixed, houses replaced, people and Cairns are too precious to loose!

We're in southeast PA and we had to deal with Irene too. Not as bad as the coastline, but we had flooding and wind damage still. We also lost power for 6 hours on Sunday morning, that's AFTER the storm so not sure why then. Someone said there was a gas smell in the neighborhood and that could of been why they cut the power. Hope everyone else if doing ok

PS almost forgot to mention how adorable Finn is.... such a cute black Cairn!!

I became a dog person AFTER I got my dog.

Glad to hear your uprights kept you safe and everything is ok, Finn. Bailey & Radar handled the whole Irene thing just fine. They did not appreciate going outside, but then again hubby didn't either. After the storm the boys went out to survey the situation...they sniffed and peeped on all the downed trees & limbs. Thank goodness everyone now knows they belong to Bailey & Radar. They even helped pick up all the debris with us.

Glad to hear everyone has survived the wraths of Irene!
